सिख रियासत होने के बावजूद कपूरथला स्टेट के महाराजा का हर वर्ग और समुदाए के साथ बेहद गहरा रिश्ता रहा। स्टेट गुरुद्वारा साहिब, मौरिश मस्जिद एवं चर्च के अलावा विरासती शहर में सुंदर पंच मंदिर भी संशोभित है। यह भारत का दूसरा ऐसा मंदिर है जहां सूर्य भगवान की प्रतिमा पर हर सुबह सूरज की किरणें सीधे पड़ती हैं। यहां भगवान सूर्य की प्रतिमा की पूजा की जाती है।

पंच मंदिर विभिन्न हिंदू देवी देवताओं को समर्पित पांच छोटे छोटे मंदिरों का एक अदभुत संग्रह है। पविंत्र गर्भगृह के बीच में विशाल संरचना इन छोटे मंदिरों से घिरी हुई है, जो विभिन्‍न देवी-देवताओं को समर्पित हैं। महाराजा कपूरथला सरदार फतेह सिंह अहलूवालिया के शासनकाल दौरान बनाया गया यह मंदिर शास्त्रीय ऐतिहासिक वास्तुकला की मनमोहक झलक पेश करता है।

अपनी खूबसूरत सफेद संरचना के साथ पंच मंदिर चांदनी रात में आश्चर्यजनक रूप से अद्भुत लगता है। इस मंदिर की एक अदभुत बात यह है कि इसके मुख्‍य रजत द्वार से एक भक्‍त सभी मूर्तियों को प्रणाम कर सकता है। इसका मुख्य प्रवेश कुछ इस तरह बनाया गया है कि श्रद्धांलु मंदिर के बाहर सड़क से ही इसके द्वार से एक नज़र में सभी पांचों मंदिरों के दर्शन कर सकते हैं।

भारत में ऐसे सिर्फ दो ही मंदिरों है जिनमें भगवान सूर्य की प्रतिमा की पूजा की जाती है। पहला कोनार्क का सूर्य मंदिर है। इस पंच मंदिर में भगवान ब्रह्माजी की दुर्लभ प्रतिमा भी देखी जा सकती हैं।

ऐतिहासिक महत्‍व रखने वाले इस मंदिर में अनेक अद्भुत प्रतिमाएं रखी गई हैं। पंच मंदिर परिसर में शिवलिग, राम दरबार, लक्ष्णी नारायण, राधा कृष्णा जी, बाबा बालक नाथ जी, श्री हनुमान जी, बाबा लाल दयाल जी, शनिदेव जी, मां दुर्गा जी एवं मां काली जी की मूर्ति प्रतिष्ठापित है। मंदिर में सभी देवी देवताओं की पूजा का प्रविधान है। इस मंदिर में महाशिवरात्रि एवं कृष्ण जन्माष्टमी का पर्व धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है। यहां पर प्रतदिन सैकड़ों श्रद्धालु पूजा कर भोले बाबा से परिवार की खुशहाली की कामना करते है।

Panch Mandir in Kapurthala is a very beautiful temple in which, in Central Dome Bhagwan Shri Radha Krishan vigrah attract devotees. The vigrah can be seen from main road where a special mark has been made in the fencing. The temple also has Maa Durga, Bhagwan Shiv, Bhagwan Surya Dev and Bhagwan Ganesh vigrah have been placed below beautiful domes in all four corners.
