Beautiful temple located on top of a small hill replete with architectural beauty and the atmosphere suffused with the divine energy of Bhagwan Shri Rama. A small board at the aghastya ashram in this temple reads that Rama took a pratigya (pledge also called tek) in this temple due to which apparently the name. An akhand Jyoti is kept for this pledge.

The temple is located within a fort and so is also called gadmandir. The way to the top is lined with shops selling snacks or trinkets. Immediately after the first entrance is a varaha murthy. People try to pass between the legs of the murthy. Further ahead as you climb the steps is a dattatreya mandir. Subsequently there is a second gate leading to an open area and path leading to the inner fortification where the temple is present. On entering the gate of this fortification, you first come to the aghastya ashram. The actual ashram can be viewer through a glass window. Further ahead is the main temple. The entrance to the temple is ornate with something similar to a short gopuram or a mandapam on top. Multiple Shikhars of the mandirs spectacularly catch your sight as you enter. There is a Ramachandra and a Lakshman mandir. They are beautiful stone structures. You may not find a lot of motifs but the features on the sides give it a grand look. Steps are provided at various places to climb over the fort wall and have a view of places around. It is well maintained in terms of cleanliness but the fort particularly is in want of repairs. The entrances and doors are in a pathetic condition. The walls of structures near the temple are broken. The place is full of langur. None of them seemed to attack humans but they do not give way and they might snatch food from you. I saw one snatch a lotus flower from the hand of a devotee. It's a beautiful and must visit place if you...

An ancient place of worship in the heritage fortress, considered to be from the 11th century, this temple complex dedicated to Lord Ram is one of the oldest in Maharashtra.

According to legends, God Ram during his Van Vas,(exile to the forest) visited this place and met Sage Agastya and on the advice of Sage took an oath to destroy the evil kingdom of Ravana.

There are many temples within the premises including dedicated to Lord Ram, Laxmana, Kausalya Devi, Ekadashi Mata, Varaha, Agastya Ashram and many more.

There is also a memorial to Maha Kavi Kalidas.

The path to the complex is dotted with shops and eateries.

The view from the top is scintillating. Lots of monkeys around so one should be careful in protecting any fruit bag or eatables.

As this is a sacred place, one should maintain decorum and dress code.

A must visit to understand the culture and heritage of Bharat.

The view from the top is just mesmerizing.

The fort has an old-world charm, and the local guides shared many interesting stories.

A peaceful and enlightening experience overall.

By road, it takes around 90 mins to reach from Nagpur.

After reaching, you may park at the base of the mountain and take the hundreds of steps to the temple, or you may drive to the top and then you would just need to climb around 25 to 30 steps that come after intervals.

The temple compound is clean,

The temple area is supposed to be full of monkeys, but fortunately we didnt see more than one troupe of 5-6 monkeys.

These monkeys are know to snatch things from your hand, hoping to find food.

It is advised that you do not carry any purse or mobile phone or any bag while...

This tourist destination is a truly amazing place for anyone interested in spiritual and religious sites. The location is rich in history and culture, with many old temples and archeological sites to explore. If you're a fan of photography, this is also a great place to capture some stunning shots.

One of the great things about this place is that it's also an ideal picnic spot. You can spend an entire day here, enjoying the beautiful scenery and the many activities on offer. Gad mandir also known as ramtek mandir And it is famous for lord rama temple Ramtek has got the historic temple of Rama. It is believed that Ramtek was the place where Rama, the Hindu god, rested while he was in exile. According to Hindu history the ashram of the Hindu sage Agastya was situated close to Ramtek. Rama was distressed to hear about this, and took a vow to relieve the world from the demons. The present temple was built by Raghuji Bhonsale, the Maratha ruler of Nagpur in 18th century after his victory over fort of Deogarh in Chindwara.
