Shangumugham Beach in Trivandrum is a popular coastal destination, offering breathtaking views of both sunrise and sunset, making it an ideal spot for visitors throughout the day. In the morning, the beach is calm and peaceful, perfect for activities like walking, jogging, and yoga, with fitness enthusiasts frequenting the shoreline to make the most of the fresh sea breeze. As the day progresses, the atmosphere becomes lively, attracting families and groups who come to enjoy the wide, sandy shore and the cool ocean air. Though it all depends on your luck whether the sun sets on the horizon or much before that in the cloudy sky.The beach is also famous for the huge Matsyakanyaka (mermaid) Sculpture. It is a very beautiful beach in Trivandrum aka Thiruvananthapuram City. There are seats provided for visitors to sit and watch the and the waves. There are many street vendors selling tender coconuts, roasted groundnuts, ice creams etc etc. There is a very good cafeteria. It is Indian Coffee House. This eating place is specialized in fish related foods also. It is run by The Coffee Board Employees Cooperative Society Ltd. The foods are very tasty and Organic also. The beach is wider to accommodate a large crowd of visitors. There are Public Safety Personnel to care of the accidentally drowned visitors. There are spaces for parking vehicles of the visitors. There are Temples, Churches and Mosques around the beach. There is no dress code for the visitors. This place is accessible by public transportation as well. Photography and video-graphy are permitted. There are a large number of private photographers and video-graphers catering to the need of those visitors who do not have cameras and who do not know photo taking and recording videos. The sun set is very beautiful. This beach is one of the must see spots for the visitors of Trivandrum aka Thiruvananthapuram City. This beach is located within the city limit of Trivandrum and just 4 KM away from the airport. Ideal for a day out with family, friends and children. Maintained by DTPC in a relatively clean manner. This is a natural beach and once can enjoy the real action of fishing by local fisher folks. A number of eateries are all over and are pretty cheap too. A four star hotel too is nearby to cater high end visitors. It is also a historical place with a couple of small palaces and ponds etc. Locals have a lot of folklore to tell about the erstwhile king Marthanda Varma. Do not miss it while in Trivandrum. Veli boat club too is nearby this beach.

I’m writing a short for my special outing place. My Experience at Shangumugam beach I recently had the pleasure of visiting Shangumugam Beach, and I am compelled to share my wonderful experience. As an avid traveler and nature enthusiast, I have explored numerous beaches across the globe, but Shangumugam holds a special place in my heart. From the moment I set foot on the powdery golden sands, I was captivated by the serene and inviting atmosphere that enveloped the entire beach. The azure waters of the Arabian Sea stretched endlessly before me, reflecting the clear blue sky above. It was a picture-perfect postcard scene that instantly put me at ease, as if all my worries were washed away with each gentle wave. One of the most unique aspects of Shangumugam Beach is the rare confluence of the sea and the backwaters, creating a breathtaking panorama that I had never witnessed before. The tranquil backwaters on one side and the lively ocean on the other combined to form a harmonious juxtaposition of serenity and vibrancy. As the evening approached, I eagerly awaited the mesmerizing sunset that Shangumugam Beach is renowned for. The sun's slow descent on the horizon painted the sky with a kaleidoscope of warm hues, casting an ethereal glow over the entire beach. It was a moment of pure bliss, and I found myself lost in the beauty of nature's masterpiece. What truly sets Shangumugam Beach apart from others is its sense of purity and untouched beauty. Unlike some crowded tourist destinations, this beach maintains its unspoiled charm, allowing visitors to connect with nature on a profound level. The gentle sea breeze, the distant cries of seagulls, and the rustling of palm trees created a symphony that rejuvenated my soul. Moreover, Shangumugam Beach holds cultural significance as well. The nearby Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, an ancient architectural marvel, adds a touch of spirituality and heritage to the whole experience. It was humbling to witness the locals and tourists alike paying their respects and soaking in the rich cultural heritage of the region. During my time at Shangumugam Beach, I also had the opportunity to savor some of the most delectable seafood delicacies at the local eateries. The freshness and flavors of the dishes were unparalleled, leaving my taste buds dancing with delight.
