UPDATED=== Genetic Heritage Garden SURPRISING FACTS!! Pathetic Garden!!! @@ - The proposed Name of the place is “KURINJI Genetic Heritage Garden at Yercaud”! (I don’t think, even the Locals know this name). @@ - PURPOSE = To educate the younger generation, the way of life style of the people in “Sangam Period (?!) @@ - AIMED AT = Creating the Flora, fauna, Life Style, Architectural style of period, Folk, love, etc., of the various landscapes existed during the “Sangam Period”. @@ - The garden was expected to accommodate the flora of that region including the cultivable and wild, endangered, endemic species of that area during Sangam Period. @@ - The entire garden WAS illuminated with beautiful lighting fittings and equipped with drip and sprinkler irrigation systems, etc. (few dilapidated items seen ..here & there) @@ - The projected project cost is/ was Rs.816 lakhs Presently, most of these are still dreams or once created items are destroyed!! There are few items still usable (Eg: Mantapas), partly or fully damaged in many parts of the garden.

Still it is worth visiting as there are many other areas: After lady’s seat, then Gent’s seat & Childre’s Seat Large Greenery Rose Garden Children’s Play area There are many Family get together areas IMPORTANT: Lot of scope for Selfies and day & Night Photography. Note: as of Mar 18, the entrance fee was Rs.30 per person for all the above areas.

Nice place for morning, afternoon or evening walk. Majority of places to see in Yercaud are situated around Genetic Heritage Garden - Ladies Seat, Gents seat, Rose Garden and Science Park. Science park is must visit place for all ages, where you can experience soil to Silk life cycle. They have live silk worms, cocoons and depiction of entire silk generation process. Science park has virtual reality experience at mere INR 20 per person. There are few science themes, which kids can experiment and experience like Newtons Craddle, Parabolic dishes for speech transfer etc... I usually stay at Sterling Yercaud from where the Genetic Heritage Garden...
