We went for a coracle ride on Saturday, on the Tamilnadu side. The whole experience felt like a big scam with zero effort in making the visitors have a good experience. The coracle ride counter charges 1500 INR per person and max 4 people in a coracle. People with blue shirts will be behind you as soon as you enter the town. They will be following you like a shadow to take in their coracle. After paying 1500/- per person, still you won't have a peaceful experience. The boatman will haggle with you throughout the ride to pay another 2000/- per person to take you deep into the falls. In 1500/- you will get a trip to a dirty small waterfall that is contaminated with soap and oil from people taking above just above it. The worst part is, you cannot say NO to an extra 2000/- demand and complete your 1500/- ride peacefully. The guy kept haggling throughout the ride. It was a really pathetic experience until we agreed to pay another 1800/- per person to take us to a bigger water fall. So, if you are 4 people in the group, you have to spend around 15000/- in total for a peaceful ride. I never had such a bad experience at any other tourist destination. The only fun part was, we were a group of friends who made light of the situation to not kill the buzz. If you are going with your family, it will be very very challenging to have fun, knowing that you are getting looted in...

Read moreMy experience at Hogenakkal Falls, Tamil Nadu side, was terrible. The boat ride counter charges ₹1500 per boat, which is already overpriced. On top of that, it's cash only, and if you want to pay via UPI or any digital payment method, the counter guy illegally charges an extra ₹50! This kind of ruthless demand is unacceptable and makes the entire experience even worse.
Once you're on the boat, you're pressured to pay extra for a longer ride, adding to the feeling of being scammed. The Tamil Nadu side of Hogenakkal has become so demanding, so exploitative, that the ride itself feels worthless.
For a better experience with great views and fair service, I recommend visiting the Karnataka side instead. Avoid the TN side...
