HOGENAKKAL FALLS BOATMAN THIRUMALAI — Attraction in Tamil Nadu

Very Important update for people who want to visit from Bangalore:

1)Tamil Nadu police will ask for bribe before letting you pass through the check post. 2)There modus operandi is convince you for a boat ride package at an expensive price. 3)Either you return back to Bangalore or pay to police person directly or buy the boat package which includes the bribe as well. 4) First they deny entry saying it is closed for so and so reason then the boat men and middleman pitch in for bribe and boat package. 5) Have to pay for the parking twice although there was no proper parking place. 6) Anybody and every body with yellow token ask for money to enter the park as well as ask for parking it look very fake. 7)Most of the middle men and boat men were continuously asking us for Thai message and full message not sure how this allowed in that place. 8) After we were stopped at the check post there was one family with three persons in the Activa and none of them were wearing helmet since they were able to communicate in Tamil police men let him go without bribe. 9) Government boat ride was closed and the private one is charging 2500₹ where as government price is 750₹. 10)Boat man and middleman open accepting that they have to pay bribe to police as well as home guard for entry as well for boat ride. 11) It was hot,water was dirty and lots of garbage with foul smell. 12)Monkey menace near the...

The boating (padisal or படிசல்) was a good experience on riding. The spin made by the boat man was enjoying and different experience. The was too expensive 1500₹ for four members per boat but in youtube they describe as 750₹ per boat for 4 members. I hope myself and my friends were cheated by the boat man. But luckily we bargained and made it to 1000₹ per boat. They keep standard number of persons to travel as 4 members to be in a boat.please be warned on the fee of boating

They will ride the boat to the hanging bridge (தொங்கு பாலம்) and they cover upto a another side of the shore, where a group of people fry fishes and sell fruits. It is a nice place with sand all around with trees seems to be like in mangrove forest etc. Nice place to take pics... and also they sell packed food like chips,biscuits and etc even in the mid of the lake on a boat ...

Most recommended to visit the spot. Good place to spend time with family members.the climate was too good.

And also to mention that it took us to climb the hill by bus for nearly 1.5 hrs and was excited to see the scenary while climbing...

A perfect single day trip with family & friends . It is 120+ KM if u traveling from banglore and the place destionation is wonderful . Quit demanding guides but negotiable . They do body massage , oil massage etc.. , and the corcle ride is must they show u the falls and take to to the borders of karnataka . U can chill in between the falls also u get snacks , beverages etc.. in between the falls river . We should appreciate for their risk. They view of the falls are beautiful . U also have separate place to bath in the falls but it's small since there privacy is less , but enjoyable . Then coming to food there is a market u can buy fish chicken veggies groceries of ur wish etc ... and there will be cook with chargeable according to the quantity and the menu we provide . Also u can can opt for all their expenses and it will cost you more by budget . The food cooked are awesome must try if u be there . They will cooked the food on ur priority and time basis . U can tell them when u require they will make at that time ready . Overall an wonderful experience...
