View Point Hogenakkal — Attraction in Tamil Nadu

hmm.. where to start.. to be straight it's simply a waste of time and money to visit this place. We went here on December 30 2022. The govt and the ppl here will simply loot you three times from you just to enter the place. 50rupees in barricade some challan given, after 150metres again 50rupees by police officer without any challan, after 700metres again 70rupees but if you fight and make noise he will give you another challan and ask you 50rupees. you can see my video of multiple travellers questioning these robbers in Hogenakkal falls entrance. And it won't end there, it only gets worse after you enter Hogenakkal. There are no waterfalls guys. Yes you read that right Hogenakkal falls has no falls!! You need to pay 750rupees to get tickets for coracle ride with no safety jackets or whatsoever safety measures they follow. basically nothing. you drown, you die. And they give randomly to some ppl life jackets just for formality and not for all. Next loot is you need to pay the sailor or boat keeper whatever you call he will demand you before the ride itself for additional 1000rupees for 30mins. 15mins up and 15mins down. And again this will NOT take you to the Hogenakkal "falls". You need to pay 1500 +750 for each coracle boat with only 4 people capacity for 1.5hrs ride. 40mins one way. In Hot roasting sun you need to sit idle in an open air boat for 45 mins to spend a few mins in the falls. Not at all worthy as not all drivers will take you close to the falls as it's simply dangerous!! The loot wont end here guys, they sell fishes here, which are in bright red color marinated in some bright red masala and keep open in air to absorb alp dirt for a few days i guess. it does looked delicious and many fall for its look. My entire family bought one piece each for 250rupees and Thankfully I'm a converted vegetarian so i skipped even though I felt tempted but felt blessed later. guess what?! had diarrhea for the next one week. all of em. Guys, My humble request, this place wont change but we can change. Spread the word. Stop going to this land of looters "Hoggenakkal". Let them go bankrupt. Then may be, Tamil nadu govt will take some steps. as of now even govt employees are corrupted. You can easily see how much our state is corrupted by tamilnadu govt malpractices and illegal activities! I will not recommend this place to even visit once. just skip it bros and sis! Don't fall for insta videos and photos. It's done by professional content creators who stay there for months to find the right season to get a right shot and capture the right moments. they earn money out of it. Definitely not for us who look for a place to visit with family as a one day trip...

The place is ok, from Bangalore to water there comes a trench of 40 km of forest, so it's a good trip to drive, the journey is beautiful, it took 3.5 hrs from Bangalore to the waterfall. When you reach there the path to the waterfall is the worst, it's a fish market, if you can bear the smell at the end you will find two spots, one says way to waterfall when you reach there, it has no waterfall just a Place where you can take boating to waterfall and another is a bridge. The place is not worth it if you are not boating, boating is expensive, govt rate is 750 for 4 people and probably for all waterfalls, there are many. But they took 2500 from us and just showed us 1 waterfall and that too if we bargain others were asking 3500 to 6000, probably it was 1st Jan New Year so there was a lot of crowd and so they were charging extra. One of my friends said 1000 is enough if you probably go on normal days so if you have a Tamil speaking friend and are good at bargaining make sure you bargain well.

There is an issue with food also, mostly you will find south food so if you are too into hygiene or not ready to eat the south meal like rasam rice etc, I will suggest eat...

As usual. Water water water. And fish fish fish. They swarm around u as soon as u enter the parking lot. Boatmen go by official rates but an extra is what they expect for all the extras they show us or they do in the water. For lunch, better u only go select some good fish and give them. Specify what taste u want, tamarind and spices. Or else it will be too spicy or tamarind. U need to pay for the fish, cutting of fish and preparation of fish. But it’s worth when u finish the long boat ride and come back in the hot sun. Better to load drinking water with u. Massages are another thing here. Don’t expect a spa therapy. They bang hard on the head and back and charge u Rs 300. Worth a long day. 3 routes to go there. Main highway is hosur dharmapuri and then falls. Or else attibele denkanikottai anchetty and falls.
