Learn moreMGM is an old and ailing theme park that is running only because of no other options for people. Drawing crowds only because it is close to the South Chennai population.
Dry Rides: The rides are so old and boring. All the equipment look old and creaky, shaky and flaky. All the rides you see in a usual govt exhibition are there. Nothing new or exciting that you only find in a theme park. The only saving grace is the roller coaster but they only allow you to ride it once. They are still marking with pens on the hand band, like they are living in the 90s. MGM should really learn from Wonderla. The WORST part is the 2pm-4pm break for the land rides - LIKE WHAT? If you dont want to get into the water, you have nothing to do between 2pm to 4pm. Even during a peak holiday, I found the rides to be closed. Absolutely stupid decision. So dont go to MGM for the dry rides.
Wet rides: The wet rides only open at 12.30pm, even though the park is open at 10.30am. WHAT? There are 3 pools and a tiny puny wave pool, that is working only for 15mins every one hour. There are 3 big water slides that actually work but are really short. The usual water rides are missing. So dont go to MGM for the water rides.
Dress change: The dress change area is an absolute mess, with ladies on the 1st floor and gents on the 2nd. A single staircase connects all these, so you have to fight through a crowd just to reach your dress change area. The toilets are so bad and stinky. Entire area is wet and not maintained well. Absolutely not welcoming or comfortable.
Food: The food court is clean and good. The food tastes good and prices are reasonable. So go to MGM for the food.
For Kids: There are a lot of rides for kids, both dry and wet. So kids will have a nice time at MGM.
Conclusion: MGM Theme Park may not fully meet the expectations of adult groups seeking thrilling experiences and value for money. However, families with young children can still have an enjoyable time here. While there are areas for improvement, particularly in ride maintenance and facilities, the park's food options and attractions for kids are good. For those seeking a more comprehensive theme park experience, considering alternatives like Wonderla in Bangalore or awaiting the arrival of Wonderla in Chennai may...
Read moreGot few coupons from a friend to visit this place. Decided to use them on a weekend during a hot summer in the city.
Got to the location by bike and there's a land dedicated for the parking in the opposite lane, for both cars and bikes.
It was my first time to this park and I wanted to experience all the rides(there were many). Since it was a weekend, the place was packed. On an average, we had to wait for almost 20 minutes to just get into the ride. That was the case for almost all the rides. The queues were very long. This made us to wait for so long and we just were able to visit less than half a dozen rides.
You can find rides according to the people's age groups- adults, children and few rides were there also for families. I tried out the giant wheel, followed by Creeper Bugs(must try ;) ), roller coaster (it lasted for just a minute and we had to wait in the line for almost half an hour), and then water rides.
I did not have the time to experience some of the more adrenaline pumping rides. Missed them. Since we visited the theme park during the water crisis, you cannot expect the water to be sparkling clean and that was the case here. You just have to not concentrate on that and try to have a good time.
The food is a bit expensive and they sell the consumables at a bit higher rate inside the park. This applies for all the foods available in the food court too. So, for the people who go in large numbers, try to bring something along with you to avoid such expenses.
On a whole, it's worth while to visit the park especially if you had few coupons like I had. It will take around 800-900 per person (including the food) for experiencing this place and this price is without the coupons. Few amusements inside charge some price apart from the entry ticket. But, all the major rides is not chargeable, so it shouldn't be an issue.
I can say much more about the rides, but I'll leave that upto you to experience it...
Read moreThis is the second time I went to this amusement park after 14 years. I didn't find much difference from the last time, but I could see some of them had improved a lot. They have increased the space for water games, earlier they didn't have many options for kids. But now you can find some dedicated space for kids which includes mini kuttralam and a small pond with sliding options. Apart from that, two big giant wheels, horror house, splash car, dash cars for both adults and kids are very much attractive. Wash rooms maintenance can be improved. We have an option for boating as well, we can spend some time and we can enjoy the atmosphere a lot. Most of the rides are unlimited, and very few rides like 'roller coaster', splash cars are applicable for only once. Parking facilities for both bikes and care available just opposite to the amusement park. Those who are all planning to visit this amusement park using their own car (or) bike, it's better to park your vehicle and then reach this place. Otherwise we need to take a u-turn , park and then come again to this spot. Believe me, they are charging 20 rupees for two wheelers and 50 rupees for cars for parking, I personally don't like this approach - at least they should reduce the amount when we collect our ticket. Food quality and options are average, they need to improve a lot. They are mentioned as "Food Court" but you can't expect many options in that. Lots of improvement is expected in terms of maintenance, especially in the water games. Last but not least, they have a separate area for DJ (open auditorium) and we can spend some time before we leave for the day. If you want to dance, we can. Ticket Price# Adults - 699, Kids - 549;No tickets for mobile & cameras Parking# Available (Open parking). 50 rupees for a car, 20 rupees for two wheelers Food Court# Limited food options are available inside the mentioned court. Rest rooms/ Cloak...
