Brahma Kapal is located just walkable distance from Badrinath temple on the bank of River Alakananda. It is believed that this place should visit between Sunrise and Sunset. Not recommended to visit before Sunrise and after Sunset. Here Pujas performs only for six months during Badrinath temple is open and during winter season there will not be any poojas in this temple. Interesting Facts about Brahma Kapal: Brahma Kapal is famous to perform pujas for ancestors. It is a flat platform where prayers and rituals are performed by the devotees to pay homage and sraddha to the departed souls of ancestors. Only four heads are visible to Brahma because of Shiva's denial of Brahma's fifth head. This was the place where the head of Brahma had fallen off from Shiva's trident and thus the place was known as Brahma Kapal. It is believed that if you visit this Kshetra, all the doshas of child birth, marriage and Vaastu will be eliminated. The temple of Mata Murti, Sheshnetra, Tapta Kund, Narad Kund are located here in the vicinity of Brahma Kapal. The view of the Himalayas from this point is absolutely amazing. It was again a good experience..there...My elders did all the last rites again for my grand mother, my grand father's mother and father.. They say, that it's the place of God and Goddesses where you...pray and whatever you wish for that will happen in some other way.... And once anyone died there, they call it as "your asthma will live peacefully and sleep peacefully". I've heard my elders saying that... This very place is the most beautiful place in this earth, cuz there you can see the flowing of the river Ganga, as well as the cold weather, at the same time the prayers that you hear on. Shivji exits all over there... Like watching, guiding, supporting, telling, and blessing us with a gokd future. I believe that whatever we do or whatever happens with us, its happens for a reason. So if you go somewhere like, whether it Brahma Kapal or Kedarnath or whatever it may be, but you know you should be blessed with that, that's why you went there.. Not everyone is blessed with all such things. This is also one of the fascinating thing about this...

It is about 100-200 mts from the main temple. ghat situated on the banks of Alaknanda River. It is the final place for doing pind daan for ancenstors. No need to do it at any other place after doing it here.

Process is very simple. Go to temple 1 day before the day you want to do pind daan. Buy a ticket of Rs 31 from temple. You will get bhog from temple next morning at 6:30 AM. That needs to be taken to the ghat. You will find lot of panda's there who will do. Best thing about this place is the process they have. All panda's are from temple. They will not force you to give more amount.. its all your intent.. there are 3 steps there. 1. Pind daan ( you are supposed to give some dakshina here), 2. Tarpan - this is next to the Alaknands river (here also some dakshina) and 3rd is shanti Havan (Dakshina here as well). Overall it will takne 1-1.5 hrs.
