Read moreOne of the most popular and mesmerizing tourist attractions in Darjeeling. Sharing a detailed review with a secret tip for couples at the end;)
The view is simply amazing! If You are lucky with clear weather, you can see the whole Rangeet valley tea garden and possibly Rangeet river and a sweeping view of Kanchenjungha.
If you are lucky with cloudy weather like us, you are about to experience a romantic and charming journey through the clouds, (there is a video with my post). In both the cases, it is a win win situation.
There is a park down, if weather permits they will allow tourists to get down. Although, there is not much of an activity in that park.
Caution: Remember, this cable is both for the locals and the tourists. Hence, expect long and long and very long queues. The key is to get there by 8 am and jump into the queue. The counter shall open at 10 am. It can open late depending upon the weather conditions. Taxi drivers will charge extra for the long waiting time. Although, I had a really nice driver who took a reasonable price for the local tours and no charges for waiting at all. You can ask me for his number. The food in that area is a bit costly than other area in Darjeeling.
Note: 19th of every month is the maintenance day, it remains shut.
Couples' tip:
Once you get down from the ropeway. Take the left road instead of exiting from the main gate. A very scenic and romantic little walk awaits you which takes you to the Lebong Cart Road. Mainly used by the local couples and not crowded at all. The name of the road itself is 'Love Road'.
