Lovely museum which showcases large variety of insects. The beauty is the way in which they are organized. You can see varieties like butterflies, moth, silk worms, borers, beetles, bugs, locusts etc. Many have a history like from the origin to the endlife. They have smart TV's which will display particular information about the insects. They also have guides who will explain about the collections. People from all ages will like the museum.

Amazing place to know more about insects. The guidance of the staffs is not proper. This museum repeats so many insects in different place. This is an ac museum. They have arranged insects in different shapes. The museum is in the shape of an insect. Then there is an auditorium in which they will show the movies of insects. Only once if you visit is enough not more than that. Live bees are kept. Even nepenthes plant also....

The Insect Museum in TNAU is the first and unique museum of its kind located inside the TNAU campus, Coimbatore. It has specimens and collections of insects of economical and ecological importance. Huge collections of insects are preserved and decorated into various shapes and structures which looks impressive.

Firstly, you will be recieved by a huge Albezia tree trunk which has manually carved insects of each of the 29 major orders of the Class Insecta.

Next, you will see a huge wooden carving of Violin mantis which appears as if it welcomes you.

You will see a large number of different types of insects ranging from beneficial insects, Insect pests and insect of ecological importance.

There are some interesting things about insects kept in the museum like artifacts made of insects, edible insects, movies made based on insects and literary works describing insects. At last , you will find termite hills and other interesting things here.

Fee is ₹ 50/- for adults and ₹ 30 /- for students and children if they have ID card.

No photography or videography is allowed...

An educative insect museum with the theme "Bugs are Kings". A must visit to learn or refresh the knowledge about insects for people of all ages. The arrangement of preserved insects is beautiful. Nicely arranged and classified exhibits make the visit informative. All good, bad and ugly insects, useful ones, damaging ones, economic importance, 'Did you know?' kind of revelations, absorbing short video in each partition of the museum, take one through a casual walk forgetting the time elapsed. Not just insects, illustrations of their life cycle with stages, economic products from insects, crop damage, insect habitat, etc. are displayed, and there is no monotony. At the exit, insectivorous plants are displayed. The whole idea behind the concept, exhibition and efforts that went in collection, generosity of the state to fund the project, etc. need a big applause. Thanks to the vision and implementation skills of Dr. Gunadhilakaraj. Highly...

Wonderful place to visit for all age groups and especially the children. I visited here in March 2020. Insects are not liked by many people, but believe me they are lovely creatures. Insect museum has been designed in a way that one can start loving the insects. It seems that lots of efforts have been taken by the scientists to collect the samples and mounting them like a design. This is the first insect museum one of its kind in India. It displays informative boards in English. So whoever going to Coimbatore do mark this place in your map. Give the children the insight about importance of insects. I think inside photography should also be allowed so that, these efforts can reach to as many people possible. Do charge for cameras etc. Adult ticket is Rs 50/- and Students it is Rs. 30/- only. I also felt that somebody should be there to explain the...
