The Kecak dance is one of Bali’s most iconic and mesmerizing traditional performances, especially renowned for its dramatic retelling of the Ramayana epic. Performed at sunset, often in breathtaking open-air settings like Uluwatu Temple or Ubud, the dance features a chorus of dozens of bare-chested men sitting in concentric circles, rhythmically chanting “cak-cak-cak” while swaying and moving in unison. Rather than relying on musical instruments, the performers create a hypnotic atmosphere using only their voices, providing the backdrop for elaborately costumed actors who depict scenes from the Ramayana — including the heroic journey of Prince Rama, the abduction of Princess Sita by Ravana, and the brave rescue by Hanuman, the monkey god. Read moreDefinitely unique. There is no music. Just an acappela male choir group. However they dont really sing. More like chant and constantly saying "Cha Cha Cha Cha Cha". The dancing was interesting and the productiom certainly got better and better as it went on with more intense performance such as jumping into fires. Its £5 a person and they provide you a leaflet that explains the story. It was difficult to follow but we would have been totally lost without it. Get there early as there are no allocated seats. For us a big dissapointment was from other people around us who were shoutin and chattin to each other throughout whilst getting up and down from their chair. Read moreWe watched Kecak Dance here and it was a great show. Tickets opened at 6.00 pm and show starts at 6.30 pm. Entrance fee was 100K IDR for adults and 50K IDR for children (August 2017 price). The venue was large and could hold up until 100-150 persons. The stage was completed with good lightnings to add more magical atmosphere and you can still be able to take good pictures of the show. My children enjoyed it very much. It will be better if you know the story behind the dancing (there's a brochure about the dancing given before entering the venue) so that you won't get bored easily and you could explain it to your children also. Duration of the show is about 1hour long. Overall, great experience. I will recommend this...
