Orchid Park Indonesia Permai — Attraction in Jakarta

Inaugurated in April 20, 1993, by the late President Soeharto. Initiated by the late Mrs. Tien Soeharto to preserve, to develop and to cultivate orchids from around Indonesia, there are also green house and laboratory to serve its purpose.

I’ve been here several time, this place is very interesting even tho I’m not a big fan of Orchid. I came to visit mostly to accompanying friends who are interested in orchids. This place amazed them with the variety of orchids they have in their collection. There are segera very rarely species of orchids acquired from Papua Island. This place is divided into many stalls that sell orchids of many types of orchid plant, either hibrid or natural species. And in the same complex there are also conference hall and restaurant that can be rented for wedding or gathering.

Back then in the 90's this is such a popular and lively place, when the founder was still alive. But afterward Orchid Park Indonesia Permai was given under the management of Yayasan Harapan Kita, this place that once attracts orchid enthusiast and lover from many place in Indonesia, as well as from abroad.....has lost it charm. I’m not saying the place is unattended or anything like that, in contrary, this place is clean and very comfortable, but lack of promotion and education about this place has made this place really lack of visitor. I think during my visit in this recent year, the only time I saw many visitors in this park is when the wedding going on at the conference hall. What a pity.

No entrance fee required, one only need to pay for the parking, which they have a super convenient and large...

An area provides a rental building for wedding party and green houses which live thousands orchids inside. Various varians and colour of orchids make the place so life! What a pretty place! People can buy orchids in various level of price based on its varian. But, be a smart buyer. Better you go around dan compare which one seller gives you the best price. Sering disingkat dengan sebutan TAIP ini memiliki Tiga Bunga Nasional yang di tetapkan melalui keputusan presiden looh yaitu nomor 4/1993 yaitu bunga Melati Putih (Jasminum Sambac) disebut sebagai Puspa Bangsa, bunga Anggrek Bulan (Phalaenopsis amabilis) sebagai Puspa Pesona, dan bunga Padma Raksasa (Raflesia Arnoldii) sebagai Puspa Langka. Kata Puspa sendiri merupakan bahasa asli Indonesia yang memiliki kata lain Puspita dan berarti "bunga atau perempuan" oleh karena itu kata Puspa itu memiliki maksud memberikan penghargaan kepada seluruh perempuan di Indonesia pada masa Pak Soeharto melalui bunga.
