I have visited to this place for several times. Mostly for accompanying my friends and family. the place has a good view and and it's large area. there's no bicycle to exploring the place so you have to walk and according to my experiences, dont forget to bring fresh water. We were usually spending time there around two hours for short visit to enjoying the temple but it can be more than that if you want to explore more and take a lot of pics with othet activities.
I didn't know how much the price of the ticket for international visitors however for the local is IDR40.000 (adult), IDR20.000 (children) and IDR10.000 for parking fee.
You can get the tickets by Borobudur and Prambanan. Both are usually offering the package with various price however mostly the people choose the package of Prambanan and Ratu Boko and it's including accomodation service from Prambanan-Ratu Boko-Prambanan.
This is short information that I took from wikipedia about what kind of the place of the Ratu Boko is:
Ratu Boko (Javanese: Ratu Baka) or Ratu Boko Palace is an archaeological site in Java. Ratu Boko is located on a plateau, about three kilometres south of Lara Jonggrang Prambanan temple complex in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The original name of this site is still unclear, however the local inhabitants named this site after King Boko, the legendary king mentioned in Loro Jonggrangfolklore. In Javanese, Ratu Baka means "Stork King".
The site covers 16 hectares in two hamlets (Dawung and Sambireja) of the village of Bokoharjo and Prambanan, Sleman Regency. In striking contrast to other Classic-period sites in Central Java and Yogyakarta, which are remains of temples, Ratu Boko displays attributes of an occupation or settlement site, although its precise function is unknown. Probably the site was a palace complex which belonged to the kings of Sailendra or Mataram Kingdom that also built temples scattered across the Prambanan Plain. The argument was based on the fact that this complex was not a temple nor building with religious nature, but a fortified palace instead which evidence of a remnant of fortified walls and the dry moat of defensive structures.bThe remains of settlements also founds in Ratu Boko vicinity. This site is located 196 m above the sea level, on the highest point in the site, there is a small pavilion from which one will be able to see a panoramic view of Prambanan temple with Mount Merapi as...

The parking for private vehicles such as motorcycle and cars are closed to the ticket counter, but parking for bus are far. The visitors from the bus parking area must take. A few steep stairs to reach the ticket counter.
The ticket prices are 40K rupiah for 12 and up in the Weekend. There is no discount for students. I don't know about the ticket price for foreigners.
The restaurant now has a little cafe that served freshly brewed coffee and chocolate type of beverages. The views from the restaurant are amazing, you can see the whole city, including prambanan temple from up there if the sky are clear.
You should definitely go here for a quiet stroll in the morning or in the evening so you can see the beautiful sunset. The place is large enough so you won't often bump to another visitors while here. The stairs to go to the gate (Gapura) of the sites are great and not steep and has benches every few steps. The view along the steps in the staircases and in the sites even in the parking lot are stunning. But, mind you even tho this site are really large the toilets are only in a few spots. So, you need to look around when you're strolling so you'll know where to go when you're really need them. As the site are large, there are some sites that are closed because of unknown matters and a few area that can't be seen because of construction. Other than that you can see gapura, situs pembakaran, keputren, miniatur candi, dan tempat mandi easily. There are many benches scattered along the areas and the benches are located in shady locations too so it's really convenient. There are a few of gardu too for people with families that can seat together under one roof. Mainly, they located in the park...
Read moreThe site of Raru Boko or Candi Boko (Javanese language: Candi Ratu Baka) is an archaeological site which is a complex of a number of remaining buildings located approximately 3 km south of the Prambanan Temple complex, 18 km east of Yogyakarta City or 50 km southwest City Surakarta, Central Java, Indonesia. The site of Queen Baka is situated on a hill at an altitude of 196 meters above sea level. The total area of the complex is about 25 ha. Ratu Boko is estimated to have been used by people in the 8th century during the time of the Sailendra House (Rakai Panangkaran) of the Medang Kingdom (Mataram Hindu). Viewed from the pattern of laying the remains of buildings, allegedly this site is a former palace (king's palace). This opinion is based on the fact that this complex is not a temple or a building with a religious nature, but a fortified palace with evidence of the remains of the walls of the castle and the dry trench as a defense structure. Remnants of residential settlements are also found around the site. The name "Ratu Baka" comes from the legend of the local community. Ratu Baka (Javanese, literal meaning: "king of stork") is the father of Loro Jonggrang, which is also the name of the main temple at the Prambanan Temple complex. This building complex is associated with local folk legend Loro Jonggrang.
Administratively, the site is located in two dukuh areas, Dukuh Dawung, Bokoharjo Village and Dukuh Sumberwatu, Sambireja Village, Prambanan Sub-district, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta, Indonesia....
