The wood carvings themselves are undeniably skillful, with intricate detail and craftsmanship worth admiring. Unfortunately, the overall experience was poor.
From the moment we entered, a staff member followed us closely, applying soft but constant pressure. Any glance at an item was met with a push to buy, turning even mild interest into an opportunity for hard selling. It felt more like being hunted than welcomed.
Prices were shocking. A small wall mask was listed at over $1500 USD, far higher than similar handmade carvings in the U.S., even accounting for quality. While art has value, this felt predatory rather than fair.
What could have been a respectful cultural visit felt more like a high-pressure sales trap. Beautiful work, but I would not recommend this stop. One of our least favorite experiences...

Read moreEnjoy the history of the wood carving in Bali. This place is run by families of wood carvers. Couldn't buy anything though, they sell in USD fyi. But you can watch and appreciate all their work for free. Some of their life size figures are so realistic that you'd be surprised when you first see them.
