Stunning view from the hill
Seger beach is located in Mandalika resort just to the east of Novotel Kuta Lombok. it is around 1 hour 30 minutes from Mataram by car. around 30 to 40 minutes from the airport. it has two entrances. Firts just to the east of Novotel, second is on the other side of Seger hill..a bit further east than the first one. From the first gate you will cross a bridge over an estuary... which is also a plus point from the first entrance. The second entrance your vehicle can go up to the beach at the end . Depends on where you are going, you can either park in one of them. Parking is 10K for a car as long as you need it. For me the best scenery is from the hill in front of Novotel. there are two hills there that you can climb on. As from the hill in front of Novotel you can see the beach curve just about the perfect size to the eyes. not to far, not too near. The statues of princess Mandalika and the the princes are also at this site . The climb is about 10 minutes up. you need to find your own path however you can clearly see where to step your foot. As it tends to be so hot there, you may want to wear a hat and bring your drink with you. I prefer to come here after 3 when the sun is not so hot or I will go to Aan beach first before coming here. There are some huts at the bottom of the hill if you need shade. there are also food seller and drink at the other side of the beach. I saw some people surf here but not people swiming. the wave in front of Novotel seems to look calm though From many people I bring here, all say it is so stunning though they do not like...
Read moreVery crowded on Saturday. Parking os 20 minutes walk up.the hills to the beach, which can be a turn off if you have small kids and many things to carry. The beach and the sea was full of trash and plastic waste. Zero waves because it's a almost closed bay, so no surfing or jumping over the waves. There are 2 pretty quiet motor boats to bring people around the bay. Inflated car tires tubes are available for rent at IDR10,000. Coconuts and instant noodles soups / limited choice of snacks are sold by the locals. I was hoping to get some grilled fish since we were at the beach, to no avail. Luckily we brought rice + fried chicken from the house. The place is "famous" for watching the sunset but we didn't get to see it because it required climbing the hills again, and we saw no sunset from the sea level at all. It just suddenly got pitch black at 6pm. We had to climb the rocky hills with the phone led lights while carrying small kids and our belongings. Car park was IDR 10,000 upon entry, and there were security guards watching over it. Will we go there again? I'm afraid NOT. It's sad that the visitors shamelessly trash the place, and the locals only do a quick sweep nearby their pwn small hut selling the snacks. The place may look good on the photos but who wants to swim in a plastic waste waveless warm soup. The changing "room" was IDR 10,000 with nearly zero water pressure and no lights. Next time we'll go somewhere wild, hidden...
Read moreThis beach is the most awesome beach I ever seen, with the bunch of hills around this beach, all I said was WOW. The green hills, not too much high, only took 5 minutes for climbs you can see the beautiful sunset ever. I was stayed in this beach with my friends and around 10 million people because Bau Nyale Festival. Bau Nyale Festival is Festival for hunting a warm sea it called Nyale. What make this agenda very special because the story behind. It began with story of Putri Mandalika, princess of Mandalika kingdom, because her beautifulness, many Princes tried to get her heart, until all the Princes start a war. Putri Mandalika don’t want people doing war because of war, that is why she’s sacrificed herself by jump to the ocean, and after that the colorful warm sea showed up magically in this beach. That is why, every years, Sasak people always do a big ceremony for remind the Princess’s sacrifice. Many People form local and Tourism exited too for following this ceremony, that is why the big festival held in here. We were searched the Nyale warm sea when the skies still dark, still dawn. And local people yelling with their language for calling “nyale warm sea” to came out. It was wonderful experience I ever felt. If you asked me, want you go there again next year? I will...
