The entrance to the park is right beside Letterfrack. A short road winds up to a decent sized car park, where the visitor center is located. For EV owners, there is a charge point and 2 designated EV spot so you can juice up for free! Just ask the person in the visitor center for the fob to start the charge. There are porta loos in the car park too.
You enter the park to the left of the centre and walk down a trail to the cafe, more loos, picnic tables and a playground. All 4 coloured walks start from here. Green is the shortest, about 15 stroll through the woods. The other 3 head up the nearby hill. We did the yellow which was 1.5km as we have small kids. This was perfect and along the trail there are cows, horses and sheep. The trail rises gently before looping back to the cafe. If u fancy a bit more exercise, take the red or blue loop as they climb up the hill to take in great 360 views of lakes, islands and beaches. Well worth the visit if you are in the area, free admission at...
Read moreits my first time at diamond hill and it was a lovely hike but the cafe wasn't a good experience for me.. while entering and asking do yous have ice cream they said ye but cash only and very rude to my son,, he didn't see anything he wanted so we just made our way out but when we left we had a very rude worker accuse us of robbing saying are yous going to pay for that to us in a very rude manner about two bottles of water we already came in with and when ive made it known to her we already had them she was still very rude and told us someone else told her so she didn't know and closed the door in our face. as someone who has worked in retail I find this behaviour shocking and them lacking there retail experience maybe keep a better eye when people are entering the shop and I wish I took this further as no one deserves to be spoken and...
Read moreThere are three hiking trails distinguished by duration. We took the middle one which was expected to take 60 minutes and even though we walked at a casual pace, we completed it in less than 45 minutes - I suppose we should have stopped and took more photos. The trails are well marked and you wont get lost. I would have liked to have gone on the longest route, but there was a threat of rain so didn't want to get soaked (and it looked to be clouded in). Our views were tremendous so i can only imagine what they would be like without the clouds. I found it amusing that most people on the trail that day walked in reverse order which means they would have by-passed the visitors center. Definitely...
