We came this evening to celebrate our daughter's 18th Birthday. What a celebration it was! The castle is beautiful. The staff were friendly and entertaining. There was a 4-course meal. When they served dessert, apple pie with fresh whipped cream, they lit a candle in one and served it to our daughter first as they sang Happy Birthday to her! We didn't ask them to do that but it was such a nice touch. After the meal there was about 30 minutes of entertainment. It was a magical night! The only con, and I hate to imply anything negative, is that there was NO professional photograph offered. It's nit-picky because of how excellent everything and everyone was. But in case you were wondering, there isn't a professional photograph. It worked out as someone took a family picture of us outside the castle afterwards.

This is not a castle, but a tower house belonged to a rich farmer. The interior of the house consists of three floors, each accessible via narrow, winding staircases. As I explored, I couldn't help but notice the furniture, which I assume belonged to the previous inhabitant who lived here for 20 years until their departure in 1978. While the experience was informative, I must admit that I found the admission fee of 8 Euros to be quite steep considering the house's overall lack of uniqueness. It would have been more reasonable to pay a lower price for a visit to this less remarkable historical dwelling.

Beautiful castle situated as you come into Kinvarra. Expect the roads and pathways to be busy during tourist season. Parking available on the left further down the road, and make a the short walk back up to the castle. During high tide, you can experience the swans swimming around close to the castle. A must for photographers and bird watchers. You can enter the gates, but if you want to enter the castle there is an entrance fee which goes to the upkeep of the castle. Path ways around the actual castle should be walked with caution as it isn't an easy path to walk.
