Castlebar Greenway — Attraction in County Mayo

Was so Xcited when I heard bout the Greenway from Castlebar to Westport. Walked around the beautiful Lough Lannagh through the Cemetary and came out onto the Newport Road to Westport...I seen the Greenway sign and gingerly headed in the direction of Westport....after an hour of mind numbing traffic comparable to the M50 in Dublin and walking along a main road I gave up and decided to get the bus back into town.....but U guessed it no bus and had to do endure the tortuous route in reverse Again..! Shame on you Mayo Co.co ...stick down a dedicated Hiking...

BE CAREFUL!! My 7 year old daughter was cycling with her friends. Everything was going smoothly until she approached these two teenagers with a pocket knife in their hand. Once she and her friends saw them, they took this as a red flag and went the other way. Once the teenagers saw them cycling away, they got extremely violent and started chasing them until they were out of sight. Please tell your kids about these teenagers!! We cycled and walked this greenway a few times already between Newport and Achill Island... great part of the greenway is that there are bicycle rental places in Newport, in Mulranny and in Achill with different extra service... (so you can cycle only part of it ) The whole greenway is well looked after...very popular .... recommended even if just for a walk.....
