This beautiful Park has been spoiled by the many dog owners dangerously leaving their animals off their leads. I was there earlier today and amongst others there was a bully dog and a German Shepherd left free off their leashes. This is frightening and intimidating for an adult never mind a child. This park should be safe and accessible for all. Currently it is not. The Council should implement proper management and enforcement of this dangerous situation. Currently this is a free for all and a monopoly for dog owners. Note to dog owners, your dog is not cute or non-offensive, it is an animal that will intimate and potentially could seriously harm a child or other. You have no right to leave it off it's leash, it's not permitted and in doing so you selfishly spoil the enjoyment of the park for other users. Note to the local Council, step up enforcement. The current lack of enforcement is not acceptable to other Park users and/or local residents. Furthermore these loose animals intimate water birds and hatchlings. Interrupting the natural order of things. Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council wake up! Send in the dog warden's without further delay!
Unfortunately as was the concern, in and around the 25/26th June of this year a male Swan was attacked and killed by a dog/dogs. This male Swan was father of six cygnets. I was in the park yesterday and again many dogs were left off their leashes. Can Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council please wholly address this issue before a child suffers injury or death from an unsecured canine? Proper enforcement needs to be...
Read moreIt's a big park centred around the pitches of Cabo, Seapoint rugby and GAA clubs. Not bad for a walk or run, with or without dog and if with dog, the dog area can come in handy. When it's rainy, the dog place turns into a mudbath though.
The pitches are often water-logged and bumpy but what else is new. Cabo doesn't have the funds to build water management systems under the grass so that'll remain the same for a while to come. On windy days early and late in the year, the wind can be nasty cold and persistent, so bring a scarf when watching matches. Beautiful views of the Dublin mountains, the Sugarloaf and Bray Head - my favourite element of this park when I'm watching a soccer match and/or...
Read moreNice suburban park to walk through. It has plenty of space with a football pitch and some outdoor gym equipment for exercising al fresco. Weekends are particularly busy here with kids training at various field sports. Lovely views can be seen of the Wicklow mountains and of Bray Head. Like many parks in Dublin, Kilbogget has a pond with a river running through part of it, thus attracting many species of birds. Good place to bring the kids, with the right sort of weather. Definitely worth an hour of your time, at...
