We went to the Zoo for the first time in years on the Sunday of the weekend when some unknown singer, Taylor Something? was playing a few quiet gigs in Dublin. There was more than the usual bustle about the place, with loads of cardigan clad people for some reason wanting to swap bracelets?!?! The Zoo was gorgeous. It is in beautiful order, clean and spotless, an oasis in the city, and the jewel in the crown that is our Phoenix Park. We are lucky to have such a world class zoo like this in our lovely little country. The animals all seem in top order, and quite content in their surroundings… the African Plains although an enclosure, seem large enough to allow the beautiful creatures therein to roam at will in a space that appears large enough to accommodate them happily. The big cats are always amazing to see- you really don’t grasp the size of these guys until you are up close to them! Then, there was Damien*. Damien was in the zoo at the same time we were, and it would seem that he was everywhere we were, at the same time as we were. Damien was about 6. I’m sure he was a lovely kid. But… …Damien was like a Tasmanian Devil. He was a Whirlwind. “Damien, Damien, DAMIEN, Don’t be bangin’ on the bleedin’ glass, you’ll wake the bleedin’ tigers up…” “Ah, Jaysus, DAMIEN!!!, Don’t be roarin’ at de Penguins, you’ll frighten de poor hoors…” “DAMIEN, for Jaysus sake… come down of da bleedin’ fence or de feckin’ giraffes will eat ya….” I think they left him in the monkey enclosure 😉… 10/10 for zoo-iness. *names may have been changed to protect Damien’s identity.

Dublin Zoo was a really amazing zoo to visit! All the animals looked healthy and well maintained with very clean enclosures. One of the things I found really lovely about the zoo and Irish weather... the animals warm enclosure (warm enclosures were all open allowing the animals themselves to choose inside or outside time) all had gazebo like roofing by the windows to observe them. What I really hated about the zoo, was the children banging on the enclosure windows and their parents doing absolutely nothing about it. There were signs requesting people not to bang the windows as well. But parents let their children run free and did nothing to stop them banging. Secondly, the first bathroom is so far away from the entrance we ran past many things trying to get to the bathroom. I move very slowly at the moment due to a medical condition so it was a rough few minutes walking from the car park, through the entrance then trying to find a bathroom! The bathrooms though were spectacularly clean and inbusual Irish tendencies... no hot water. We did get ourselves a number of hot beverages along the way and we found the prices not jacked up like many parks and paid entries throughout the world. Which was a pleasant surprise! The souvenir shop is comparable to those around the world, and we adored the barious types of magnets even the 3D ones! All they were missing was the IheartDublinZoo that we collect. We otherwise had a delightful time and have agreed we will be visiting again in the warmer weather!

Very good well. Managed especially today we went to wild lights show it's really good 3 years old enjoyed alot very good for under 5 rest Dublin Zoo offers a captivating experience for visitors of all ages. Nestled in the heart of Phoenix Park, it boasts a diverse array of animals and beautifully landscaped habitats. The zoo's commitment to conservation and education is evident in its informative exhibits, providing insights into the importance of protecting endangered species. The African Savanna exhibit is a highlight, featuring majestic giraffes and zebras roaming freely. The Kaziranga Forest Trail immerses visitors in an Asian rainforest environment, showcasing species like the endangered Sumatran tiger. The recently renovated Elephant and Orangutan habitats prioritize the well-being of these intelligent creatures. Interactive experiences, such as the family-friendly Zoorassic World and the daily animal talks, enhance the educational value. The zoo's emphasis on conservation efforts, including breeding programs for endangered species, adds depth to the overall experience. However, some visitors note the need for more seating areas and improved signage. Overall, Dublin Zoo stands as a delightful destination, combining entertainment with a strong conservation message, making it a must-visit for both locals and tourists alike.

Dublin Zoo offers a delightful experience for visitors of all ages. From the moment we entered, it was evident that the zoo is meticulously maintained, with immaculate pathways and well-kept enclosures. The cleanliness of the facilities added to the overall enjoyment of our visit. While exploring the zoo, we encountered a variety of fascinating animals. However, we were disappointed that we couldn't catch a glimpse of some of the more elusive species such as the lion, snow leopard, and tiger. Despite this, we were thrilled to see magnificent creatures like the giraffes, elephants, and California sea lions. Their habitats appeared spacious and enriched, providing a comfortable environment for the animals. The highlight of our visit was observing the playful antics of the giraffes and the graceful movements of the elephants. The California sea lion exhibit was also captivating, offering insight into the lives of these charismatic marine mammals. Overall, our experience at Dublin Zoo was enjoyable, especially on a day with good weather. Although we missed out on seeing a few animals, the cleanliness of the zoo and the opportunity to witness captivating species made it a memorable outing. We look forward to returning in the future to explore more of what Dublin Zoo has to offer.
