There are some nice walks through woodland and beside the river they have recently ensured the stability of some of the structures within the park which were built as examples of architecture. St Endas School was located at the house and this now holds the Pearse Museum, and is a must see for any student of Irish history. The museum allows the visitor go back in time as many of the rooms haven't changed much in the last 100 years. Parts of the museum are not suitable for push chairs or wheelchairs however wherever possible access is good. There is a nice courtyard coffee shop by the house, and there are a number of playing pitches in the grounds. Parking can be difficult! There are 3 parking areas, one has access from the road between Marlay Park and Ballyboden (small) the second has access via the main gate to the museum itself, the third and largest is off Anne Devlin road however during busy periods these car parks fill up very easily, you need to be careful you don't get blocked in especially if the sports pitches are being used... Some coach drivers have to block cars parked up already due to...
Read moreVisited yesterday 8/08/2022 at approx 1.15 pm to have a coffee and sandwich with my brother. Two of the rudest staff I've every come across. I ordered a Caesar Salad wrap and a muffin. Coffee's came first and I stood and stood when I said I was still waiting for a wrap I was told it wasn't ready, as she walked away, finally it arrived and it had been cooked !!! I don't think i have every had a salad wrap cooked and when I complained I was met with a stoney silence, with a replacement thrown in a box minus the crisps, and no apology, she did not utter one word. I then asked where my muffin was and I was told they didn't take for one, the coffee was now luke warm. At this stage I gave up and left. Lunch was ruined. Such a shame having visited for years always enjoyed. Will definitely not be back. I couldn't in all honesty recommend the café due to the particular service staff on duty It takes absolutely nothing to...
Read moreLovely compact park, which has been given a nice revamp, it was always a nice calm Oasis to get away from it all but the recent changes have opened up the space & allowed access to some hidden gems like the obelisk & the Hermits cell. I'm still looking for the Ogham stone near to the Obelisk but it just gives me a reason to go back another day! ☺ The Coffee shop looks really nice (haven't tried it yet ) & the cental courtyard outside the coffee shop is a lovely space to pass an hour or two especially in the sunshine we had last week. There are some interesting sculptures in front of the Museum dedicated to Patrick Pearse one of the heroes of the 1916 rising. All in all a lovely park to pass a...
