An excellent tour. Our guide, Paula, was such a sweet and knowledgeable woman with a fantastically fun personality.

For those wanting to know what to expect: if your tour is anything like the one I just experienced (and location details are not my strong suit), you'll first be greeted by the guide in the lobby, and they'll run you through the history of the estate. They'll tell you about the history of the machinery in the floor of the lobby, the history of the grounds, it's changing hands, the like. Then upstairs, into a cozy and charming movie theater with very plush armchairs where you watch a short video about the history of the estate and the crafting of the whisky. From there, you move into this massive room where the actual process occurs. There are some grain silos, massive water tanks, the machine where they mix the grain and water, and the stills themselves. The guide goes over the process, showing you jars of what each grain looks like and what the components look like at each major step. They also show you how clear the whisky comes out of the stills. From there, it's onto the warehouse where you'll learn about the barrels used, which is what provides all the colour and some taste. The barrels are really neat, as you can see the line made from the penetration of the whisky into the wood. The last stop is the tasting room where the guide will walk you through the scents and flavors of a few different whiskys.

It was very neat to learn about the history of the area and the distillery. Definitely look into the glass floor section of the lobby, you'll see some of the original machinery which was crafted by the same company that worked on parts of...

We just returned from what can only be described as a magical private tour at Powerscourt Distillery — and we’re still under its spell. Our guide, Paula, is truly one of the best guides I’ve ever encountered. She held us in suspense from the very beginning, revealing every detail as if she were whispering palace secrets, each moment more captivating than the last. We listened wide-eyed, completely absorbed — especially when she described the history of the estate with such drama that it felt like the castle spirits were watching us from behind the velvet curtains. We were lucky to be the only two guests on the tour, which added an incredible charm. It felt like we were being entertained as royalty, with Paula as our court storyteller — eloquent, passionate, and with the gift of making history come alive. We threw some tricky questions her way — and each time, she answered not just with knowledge, but with sparkling enthusiasm and wit. This wasn’t just a guided tour. It was a blitz of brains, legend, and storytelling. Paula is, without a doubt, a born narrator. And just when we thought it couldn’t get better, we arrived at the final stop — the whiskey tasting in the elegant Whiskey Lounge. Every detail there — the polished glassware, the ambient lighting, the deep leather armchairs — smelled of heritage and quiet luxury. Each pour of Fercullen whiskey came with a story and a spark, making the tasting feel like a ceremonial finale. If you’re thinking of visiting — go. And if you’re lucky enough to get Paula as your guide, prepare to...

Highly recommend the Powerscourt Distillery for anyone and everyone. Whether you are a tourist just stopping by for the day, a Dubliner living nearby looking for a great day out, or even a local living nearby; the team at Powerscourt provide an incredible day out, and a truly cultural and thoroughly enjoyable experience. There is a lovely cafe, which serves food and coffee in the centre.

We had a tour from Gerry, who knew the Distillery inside and out. He was really informative and intersting, giving a whole new perspective on the history and prestige of the Powerscourt Estate and the Whiskey being produced. You can tell that he and his team clearly eat, sleep and breath the Distillery, and its clear the depth of their passion in what they are creating.

At Powerscourt Distillery, it appears they have captured the essence of Whiskey Distilling in Ireland. Its evident that every care has been taken in restoring the existing buildings to provide a modernised experience, and they have built from the greenfields of Powerscourt Estate, what will definitely be a legacy in Ireland.

Strongly recommend - a great day out for all ages. Enjoyable, entertaintaing, and...

We really enjoyed our visit to the Powerscourt Distillery yesterday. The old mill house of the estate has been tastefully renovated into a visitor centre directly connected to the distillery itself, a new state of the art building next door. Led by Karl, he deftly brought us through the history of the building, the area and the distillery itself. We got to walk around both the distillery and the maturation warehouse. It was my first tour of a distillery and it was great to get so immersed in the whole process. Another member of the tour had been on other distillery tours and said this was the first tour that included the maturation warehouse. After the tour we enjoyed the food paired whiskey tasting. All four whiskeys were very distinct in their flavours and each paired wonderfully with a selection of cheeses, fish and meats. My favourite is the Limited Edition Italian Garden. However for a budget whiskey, their Fercullen Falls is extremely sippable.
