Holy Trinity Church belongs to the Heritage Center and they have done a wonderful job preserving this medieval church and it's graveyards in this incredibly beautiful little medieval lough-side village. Inside this centuries old church is an amazing mural filling the entire wall opposite the stained glass window. It shows Carlingford and her multiple ruins as they had been back when these places were built. The stained glass window which soars to the sky had once been blown out of the church after it had fallen into near ruin itself. Four local men came and picked up all of the pieces, cataloging them and keeping them until it was restored many years later. Thanks to the Heritage Center for helping insure Holy Trinity Church will be here for generations...

We learnt about the Anglo Norman's coming to Ireland, and taking over Carlingford, among other irish towns. Gerry was able to create the atmosphere of the time for us, as we poked around in the ruins of the castle and vast priory. It was the highlight to our break in Carlingford.
