Great museum and good experience. The staff sounded really passionate about what they do. The entry is free. This is a 3floor museum. They have a lot of artefacts from the past that you can take, feel and touch(in the ground floor). They are not behind glass cabinets. On the first and the second floor, you can find a lot of information from the past that is relevant to Irish history, especially the history of county Louth. They also have restrooms available and have creative sections for kids to enjoy. This is such a well organised museum that is suitable for anyone visiting this place. Bear in mind one thing that they are closed for lunch between 1-2, when you plan your visit.

Lovely little free museum with displays of archaeology, history and little nooks and crannies, well worth an explore. Parking is on the street and mostly paid, but we didn't mind a bit of a walk. Close to an old Franciscan tower, and Dundalk is pretty.

Neat museum telling the story and history about Dundalk, County Louth and Ireland. From a rich farming land to a bustling industrial city, this museum also gives a grand archeological history of Ireland. Free and very much worth the visit.

We travelled from Belfast to visit this museum yesterday. On the ground floor are more recent artefacts and information, including a "bubble car" and information about the railway in Dundalk, which was of interest to me as family members had worked in the GNR works in Dundalk. There are three floors in the museum, the top floor is devoted to prehistoric times, so I would recommend starting there. The museum closes for lunch between 1pm and 2pm. We went for lunch in a nearby café and returned to the museum for approx an hour after lunch. One negative point would be that the most up to date information related to the 1990s, when the museum was first opened and I think an update is due. Overall, a good visit with plenty of interest to see, both about County Louth and Ireland in general. Admission to the...

I've been meaning to share this for weeks, but time has flown... We stopped into the museum for a flying visit on a long journey from Belfast to Galway. To be honest it was mainly a break for the kids, a bathroom break, a look at the bubble car, a quick walk around, and yet we were greeted so warmly by the lady on reception, who was so kind with the children and generous with her attention. I wish I knew her name, she deserves a raise. What could have been a one off flying visit has become a lasting happy memory for them, and they want to go back and take a proper look at all the varied and wonderful artifacts crammed into this place, and so despite living in Belfast we will find the time to...
