It doesn't have quite the aura of the its more illustrious monastic neighbour in Glendalough, but neither does it have the crowds. Well worth stopping off for an hour or so to ramble around these peaceful ruins of the old cathedral complex. Located in a beautiful situation on the edge of the village of Ferns, there are also wonderful views from the site of the surrounding countryside.

Lovely roadside ruins complete with graveyard and many High Crosses. Wonderful introduction to the Irish countryside for newcoming travellers. Beautiful views and final resting place for those interred therein.
