Testing parkland course with tree lined fairways and excellent consistently fast greens. Built on good draining Sandy soil which means the course remains fairly dry and not at all mucky during inclement weather. The par threes are devilish and will quickly ruin your card if your shot selection is off. Overall the course is a fair test for most handicaps. If you can try play it around the weeks of the Smithwick's Scratch cup when the course is in it's best and most testing condition.
The clubhouse and catering facilities are great, the food is consistently good with plenty of choice and rotating daily seasonal specials. The bar has recently being renovated and looks and feels cosy and comfortable. The catering and bar staff were friendly and engaging and the pints are perfectly refreshing after 18 holes.
The pro shop has plenty of equipment and apparel managed by the friendliest pros you could ever meet. Prices are reasonable.
Overall Kilkenny Golf club is a great day out featuring a tough but fair test of golf followed by a friendly and welcoming atmosphere in...
