Wonderful trail, I prefer to walk up through the miners village and save the highest point to the end. Toilets at the car park only. There are usually coffe/food vans working out of the carpark, so you can grab something small, otherwise it's a 15-20 min walk back to the village. You can start the walk from the visitors centre in Lower carpark (toilets there too), it's a round trip about 12km. You can knock about 3k off that if you start from the upper carpark, however the road to the upper carpark is narrow, its not made for car passing each other. The downside, its very popular at wknd. Go during the weeknif you can.

Took about 1 hour to climb up from the upper lake car park. Follow the red arrow. Definitely a workout going up, proper hiking experience. Will pass the waterfall on the way up. We arrived just before 12 and the car park was almost full. Surprisingly, there were many people hiking up so just follow the crowd. Friendly vibes all the way as people offer to take pictures. View was spectacular and we had our sandwiches at the top. We didn't continue with the loop, went down the same way we came up. Just wanted to see the view from the top. Can see lower lake and Glendalough Monastery.

This trail is amazing winter or summer It's a bit challenging going up sometimes, but very rewarding views along the whole way it's 10 km all together if you start from the upperlake you will be climbing up the miners village going down ending at the spinc start so you can have the big car park space and facilities in the upper lake before you start

An intense and challenging hike (especially if you've not hiked before) it takes a lot of energy, effort and motivation but the views and feeling of satisfaction are so rewarding- so worth it!!! 1000% recommend. We did the trail going up the righ of the lake and down the left in 3 hours and 2 mins (with a 20 ish minute break on one of the larger green areas on the zig zag rocky hike). Gorgeous views and we were so lucky with the weather 16⁰C...
