We had an unbelievable time at this Winery. While walking through the old city we stumbled upon this family-run establishment and decided to stop by for a tasting. The owner explained how the farm was located just 30 minutes away, and gave us about 8 different wines to taste. Each blend was incredibly unique and diverse in scents and flavors - both red and white - with every option available from smokey to fruity to crisp to funky - and everything in between. While I normally avoid full body reds and sweet whites, each taste was so dynamic and made it really easy to enjoy. My two favorites were both red - the 13-year aged cabernet sauvignon, incredibly deep, crisp, and smokey, and the shalom bait which tastes sweet at the start and ends on an intensely dry note; from my understanding it is their most popular wine. The whites as well were perfect and exactly what we were looking for - crisp, refreshing, earthy, dry, with a hint of fruitiness. After the tasting, we grabbed a bottle of a crisp smokey white, some cheeses from down the street, and had a perfect afternoon. Read moreThis winery gives a true feel both for the quiet, relaxed vibe of Safed and what a boutique business is meant to be: a family who love what they do (even the kids are involved!) and marvelous wines in which one can clearly taste how different they are from their mass-produced counterparts.
Keep in mind that this is more of a tasting than a tour; you'll be sitting at a table in the middle of a large room with all of the equipment (the vineyards are elsewhere).
