The location is great, but the hotels are under average and overpriced, and the service (restaurants, bars) is pricy and bad. Example: you are not able to have a dinner before 7:00 pm anywhere, notice that we are not near the sea where it makes sense because of the hot weather, but up in the mountains where people come to hike, going to bed early and wake up early. In all hotels breakfast is served from 7:30 am so it is made sure you cannot start your hike day early or you lose your breakfast included. You cannot sit outside the terraces during July (!!!) to have dinner because there is no service in any restaurants near the lake only inside. The opening times of the restaurants and bars are random, you never know which day are they off, only arriving upon. Overall feeling around the lake regarding service is that “we don’t care about your needs dear tourist, if you don’t like it, go somewhere else”. The fun part that the nearest city with real Italian food, service and nice people is 40 min drive at least. And I cannot point out one single hotel, bar or restaurant, because we nearly tried all of them and it is the same everywhere. Shame. And a good advice for people who want to go up hiking to the Tre Cime: if it is summer and a nice sunny day forecasted (especially if there was raining or cloudy for days before), don’t go for the Rifugio Auronzo after 7 am, because you will stand in a line for 1-1,5 hours because the upper parking ticket (30 EUR per car) is served so slow, and nobody is there to tell you if you won’t make it up because of the limitation of vehicles in the upper parking. We were the last ones, only a half dozen cars were allowed after us (we waited 70 minutes in the line because only one gate was open), and when we got up, I counted at least 30 parking places still empty despite the hold on entry. Advice: or go super early (6pm) and miss the breakfast (LOL), or go around 10-11 am, when there are a lot of early birds leaving the mountain so there are parking spaces being freed up - you barely have to wait more...
Read moreGreat spot for a walk and a break. Lake Misurina is very picturesque, surrounded by mountains and forest. Parking nearby costs €2 per hour. There’s a cable car that goes up to about 2,000 meters (€17 per person round trip). At the top, you’ll find stunning panoramic views of the Dolomites and a cozy alpine café where we had a delicious lunch. The infrastructure is excellent: cafés, restrooms — everything is clean and well organized. A perfect place for a short stop or a longer walk in the fresh...
Read moreCame here in late spring early summer, not the best season, but lake Misurina is just absolutely magical. View is beautiful, especially with the mountains towering over the yellow hotel building and the reflections of them on the lake. The lake also has several cute ducks floating along. This place totally gives off a Grand Budapest Hotel vibe. Really wonderful and I would come back again to...
