Il Santuario La Verna è un luogo davvero speciale, un angolo di mondo dove il tempo sembra essersi fermato nel medioevo. Costruito direttamente nella roccia, il santuario non si limita a stare sulla montagna: si fonde con essa. Le enormi pietre non solo circondano gli edifici, ma emergono dalle pareti e dai pavimenti, dando l'impressione che l’intera struttura sia nata dalla montagna stessa.

Ieri notte ho avuto la possibilità di pernottare qui, e al mattino presto, alle sei, ho vissuto un'esperienza unica. Mentre i frati erano immersi nella preghiera e la maggior parte dei visitatori assisteva alla messa, ho avuto l'intero santuario per me. Nessun rumore, nessuna distrazione—solo il silenzio, la nebbia, il suono degli uccelli e l’acqua che gocciolava dalle rocce coperte di muschio. Un’atmosfera surreale, quasi mistica.

Questo è il luogo dove San Francesco d’Assisi si ritirò in meditazione e dove, secondo la tradizione, ricevette le stigmate. Ancora oggi è un santuario di profonda spiritualità, perfetto non solo per la preghiera, ma anche per la riflessione e il raccoglimento interiore. Non c’è internet, né segnale telefonico—solo pace e silenzio assoluti. Per qualche ora, ho avuto la sensazione di essere uscito dal tempo e di trovarmi in un’altra epoca. Magico è l’unico termine per descriverlo.

L’intero complesso è mantenuto in modo impeccabile dai frati: tutto è pulitissimo e perfettamente conservato. Le camere sono essenziali, ma moderne e abbastanza pulite. Tuttavia, ci sono alcuni dettagli migliorabili.

Riscaldamento misterioso: Il comando elettronico segna una temperatura bloccata a 22°C, ma non è chiaro da dove provenga il calore. Suppongo sia un sistema a pavimento, ma non si percepiva particolare calore, il che mi ha fatto soffrire un po’ il freddo. Fortunatamente avevo una stufetta elettrica, che però non ho potuto tenere accesa di notte a causa del rumore.

Pulizia del bagno discutibile: Ho trovato peli altrui nel lavandino e nella doccia, segno che non erano stati neanche sciacquati, figuriamoci igienizzati. Un aspetto che richiederebbe maggiore attenzione.

Colazione deludente: L’offerta era minima—qualche cornetto, un paio di piatti con affettati, due caraffe di aranciata e del pane. Rispetto agli standard di un albergo, è piuttosto scarna e potrebbe essere migliorata con qualche opzione in più.

Nonostante qualche difetto nella pulizia del bagno, il riscaldamento poco chiaro e la colazione essenziale, La Verna rimane un luogo straordinario, soprattutto per chi cerca pace, spiritualità e un’esperienza immersa nella natura. Up on the rocks, the place is very well defensed and solid. The restaurant, inside, in generous and very tasteful: whatever you will decide to eat, the prices will be very low and the taste ... very high !
