I learnt about the Endrizzi winery from a Trentodoc trip article on the Masters of Wine Institute website, and I am so glad I paid them a visit. My host Sara is an absolute gem - so kind, knowledgeable and passionate, I've learnt a great deal about the innovative and honourable things the Endrizzi family do from the vineyard to the winery.
The Trentodocs in the tasting flight are very high quality, with crisp acidity and fruits so intense that even the long bottle ageing on lees doesn't give me the overwhelming soy-sauce-like punch often found in Champagne with a similar length of secondary fermentation.
Sara also introduced me to some still wines made from local varieties (pinot grigio - nothing like the unloved pinot grigio so commonly available, and teroldego). The Teroldego Gran Masetto was very special. There is so much to love about the Endrizzi wines and the visit.
Although they don't ship to Singapore normally, Sara rang the shipping agent on the spot and settled the logistics. I highly recommend the Endrizzi and Sara to all the wine-curious and...
Read moreToday we visited Endrizzi a wine maker near San Michele all'Adige. They have been around since the late 1800's and it shows. One of their sommeliers, Ahmed, took us for a visit of the vines close to the winery, the winery itself (the new part and the old one), and finally he ran the tasting part of the program. Of all the visits to wineries we did this year in Italy this one featured the most comprehensive presentation of the winemaker story, their methods of growing grapes and their winemaking strategies. Ahmed was so thorough in his presentation that I was very pleased. Endrizzi seems to have devised a few strategies that will pay off in the long term. A part from the fact that their wines are excellent to say the least. We tasted the Masetto line and it was gorgeous: elegant wines that follow the tradition in a modern way. I would not hesitate to recommend a visit to this winery and we'll be back on...
Read more(Update 2023) After we got to know the Cantina Endrizzi in 2019, it became our favorite winery and a constant visiting destination on our holidays in Italy. A place to taste wine, learn about the craftsmanship and have a chance to top up the wine cellar on the way home. However the last times the staff in the shop was a bit (un)friendly, the "discount gifts" became smaller and the last time we were told we could taste 3 different wines only. Not sure what business strategy this is but I am currently buying Endrizzi wine from a local internet shop. It's cheaper than the winery and I don't have to bother about rude employees.
(2021) Great winery! Some wines like their rose start around 6 EUR. We liked the seccos and the reserva red...
