A genuinely hidden gem. The waterfall is in a waterworn slot in the mountain side. Only when you take the paths into cave-like canyon can you see the actual cascade. The paths that lead into the waterfall are flanked by beautifully planted borders and there are also orchids enjoying the humid location. If you don't want to get wet, take an umbrella or rain coat as there can be a lot of spray and water dripping from the rocks. Pick the time you visit carefully as it can be crowded - coach trips come here and weekends attract both locals and tourists. Obviously it's good if there has been rain in the days preceding a visit as this makes the fall even more impressive. There are plenty of tables and seating along the path leading to the waterfall and these make a great (free) location to picnic. There are steps from the carpark, but from then on, everything is accessed by sloping paths so the site is wheelchair accessible and suitable for less able people if they take it at a steady pace. The gift shop does sell small guides to the falls and these include some nice historical photos - also displayed on the walls just after the ticket kiosk. There is a snack bar selling drinks and sandwiches in the gift shop, but the Cafe on the square in the village is nicer. The range of gifts available is horrible, mostly imported and mostly unrelated to the area or the falls - anyone for a carved wooden giraffe? It obviously makes money... The €7 per person price tag is a little expensive, but the falls are interesting and lovely to see. Worth a visit if you're in the area or looking for a bit of a walk (along the side of the river fed by the falls) from...

🟢You can leave your car in the parking lot for up to 2 hours. For free

At the entrance, there’s a small shop with souvenirs and various gadgets. You can also buy food there - mostly sandwiches and snacks. There’s also the option to buy a rain poncho for €3. Is it worth it? Yes and no. On a warm, sunny day, you’ll dry off in a few minutes, so it’s not a big deal. The poncho has a logo, so it could be a nice souvenir too – but you don’t really need it, you can easily manage without.

There are basically just two main zones – the lower and the upper. In the lower part, you’ll get slightly wet, while in the upper part you’ll get properly soaked. Between the zones, there are lots of plants and information boards available in four languages.

⚠️If you’re planning to go in with a camera or any equipment that could get damaged by a lot of water – I recommend protecting it well. Other reviews were accurate – you really can get drenched, like stepping into a shower or going through a heavy rainstorm.😅

At the very top, there’s also a picnic area with around 5 or 6 benches and umbrellas – a good spot to sit down and eat something. At the very bottom, near the ticket office, there are also some places to sit and have a snack. 🚾There are toilets available as well.

To be honest, we thought there would be a lot more walking and sightseeing involved, but you can easily go through everything in under an hour and a half. Still – I recommend it! It’s definitely worth seeing if you enjoy atmospheric and...

Varone Waterfalls is a nature lover's paradise and an absolute must-visit when in Riva del Garda, Italy. This enchanting natural wonder left me in awe from the moment I arrived.

The falls are easily accessible, and the short walk to the viewing platforms is a delightful journey through lush greenery and the soothing sound of rushing water. As you approach the falls, the air becomes cooler, and the mist from the cascading water refreshes your senses.

The sight of the water crashing down into the cavern below is simply breathtaking. It's like stepping into a fairy tale. The power and force of nature are on full display here, and it's a humbling experience.

The well-maintained walkways and viewing areas ensure that you can safely get up close to the falls and truly appreciate their beauty. The lighting inside the cavern adds a mystical atmosphere to the whole experience.

What adds to the charm of Varone Waterfalls is the informative visitor center, which provides insights into the geological history of the falls and the surrounding area. The friendly staff is eager to answer any questions you may have.

For nature enthusiasts, photographers, or anyone seeking a serene escape, Varone Waterfalls is a gem waiting to be discovered. I was left with a deep sense of tranquility and wonder after my visit. Don't miss out on this natural marvel; it's an experience you...

It was ok - wish we gave it a miss to be honest. There was the waterfall and cave system is cool but you can only get a two second peek before getting absolutely drenched the rain jackets don’t help 😂 fun if you don’t have anything else planned for the day but we were soaked! Of course it was lovely and sunny so we dried off in about an hour but we got so soaked we nearly damaged our phones and cameras - truly didn’t think it would be that bad! We also kept getting pestered by other tourists to give them our rain jackets that we had to pay for!? They should really crack down on this as it’s so annoying 😳 The place is also extremely expensive for what you can do, it is a bit of a rip off when you spend about 15 minutes in total if you aren’t staying to have a picnic. I can understand if most of the profits go towards preserving this spot of nature but no mention about this anywhere. Also the parking is an absolute nightmare! After reading the other reviews - I think it was so bad when we went because of a thunderstorm the night before and I wonder if the park should have really been shut that day for it being inaccessible, (this is the norm for this place we did call before going as we drove from Malcesine).

We went here as I saw the reviews online and for us turned out to be one of the more memorable experiences in Lake Garda. Really reasonable prices for entry. You can also purchase ponchos on entry, we did not opt for this but some may feel the need if they want to keep their hair and clothes dry. Given the heat in Italy I was quite happy to dry off in the sun/heat. There is a gift shop and cafe that sells food you can sit outside with. The Japanese garden is a nice touch. The plants are stunning and the best I'd seen in the trip. Prepare for some steps to get around the place. The indoor waterfalls are stunning and the main part of the attraction in my opinion, you might not be standing there for too long however as you will get soaked from the water particles. Getting photos can also be a challenge so expect to wipe your lens clean a lot. But the experience was amazing, the sound and the force of the waterfalls will not leave you. Would absolutely go back here again. Also a top tip, if you get the Lake Garda Guest Card you can use the Bus and Go app to get a free air con taxi ride to just outside of this location (and back), which in the heat was super helpful. There are also local bus stops.
