If you’re looking for shallow, crystal-clear waters and soft white sand, Chia Beach in southern Sardinia is a beautiful spot worth visiting – especially for families with young children. The sea stays shallow (70 cm to 1 meter deep) even up to 400 meters from the shore, making it ideal for safe and carefree swimming for kids. As you walk from the parking area to the beach (about 500 meters), you’ll pass a scenic saltwater lagoon where pink flamingos. That said, Chia Beach is a bit of a “wild beauty,” so don’t expect much in terms of infrastructure. There are no toilets or handwashing facilities on the beach itself. The only restroom is a chemical toilet located back at the parking lot – and during the peak summer heat (35°C and up), the walk back and forth... There’s no dedicated restaurant or lunch area either. There are a few tables, trash bins, and sandwich heaters, but no running water – so it’s a good idea to bring your own hygiene supplies. Unfortunately, the food quality was disappointing, so we recommend packing your own snacks or lunch if you plan to stay for the day. A few more things to know: • Parking is paid, and it’s the only drop-off point (even taxis stop there). • The walk from the parking to the beach is about 500 meters. • A sun umbrella and two loungers cost...

So crowded, we spent the entire day in the sublime water. The only one worth the drive. Amazing colours and...
