An enchanting way to walk from several vantage points to the sea. The remains of a bunker are on the road, there is a field for shoes on the rocky terrain. There are several ways to walk. The Rilke Trail offers a pleasant and relatively easy hiking experience. It has no significant inclines or declines. To reach it from the main road, one passes through a wooded area and then reaches the more or less sunny part of the trail. It is well signposted. Our bus dropped us at the village of Sistiana and we walked all the way along the limestone cliffs to the Duino Castle. The path is gravel and stones and polished rock. It's a little strenuous, especially on a hot day, definitely not for wheelchair, or anyone who struggles with fitness. Wear sensible footwear. The views along the clifftops are stunning and our wonderful local guide pointed out various local plants, rock erosion, trees, birds and gecko lizards.
