This is the tranquil vineyard stay you’ve been dreaming of…the views from the pool are even better in real life than in the pics..imagine flip flopping from the pool to reception, grabbing a bottle of chilled Rose then sitting in the shallow end of the pool looking out at the Tuscan countryside. 😍||All of the about is real but there’s a few things to consider before choosing Viticcio. At €150 a night it would be the bargain of the century otherwise.||- this is more of a working vineyard than a hotel. Staff are busy, the same staff checking you in are also dealing with vineyard tastings and tours. They will want to know when you will be arriving and there’s a window for check in. People are about the premises and there is a bit of noise in the am. There’s also a bit of construction going on at present.|- Other than buying wine from the vineyard or a tour that includes a tasting platter, you’ll need to bring your food with you or eat out in Greve.|- it’s remote - a 19 min walk up a steep hill from Greve. Very scenic on the way down but a killer on the way up with a 20kg duffel bag in 35C! (couldn’t get a taxi in Greve but maybe Viticcio could organise in advance). It was fine for us without the bag though.|- Consider a car if you want to travel to other parts of Chianti. We managed to go to Panzano and back and to and from Florence getting there by bus but it would have been much easier with a car. Public transport and taxis are thin on the ground.|- accommodation is quite basic but the kitchen is well equipped. Read moreWe had our wedding reception/wedding weekend at Fattoria Viticcio at the end of June 2023 and it was the perfect venue. Having looked around many many venues around Tuscany, Viticcio offered exactly what we wanted and as an added bonus was much more reasonably priced.
We welcomed our guests staying at Viticcio on Friday and Matteo gave everyone a tour of the winery and a fantastic wine tasting with lovely Tuscan meats and cheeses. It was the perfect way to welcome our guests and you have exclusivity of the venue with the wedding package.
With full use of the venue, on the wedding day we had aperitivo on the lawn, dinner in the courtyard and dancing under the sunset on the bbq area. Lorena pulled everything together on the day from ensuring tables were correctly set, having the band in the correct locations, all signs put up and coordinating timings!
Sunday we took advantage of the lovely pool to have a pool party overlooking the Tuscan hills and Viticcio were more than happy to let us bring in a DJ and Sax for no additional cost.
Apartments range from one bedroom to four bedrooms and all are air conditioned with amazing views. All but two have full kitchens which allows guests to keep some food in if they get hungry. As part of the wedding package on two mornings lovely breakfast baskets are provided with sweet and savoury pastries along with milk and juices.
As a fully working winery producing wonderful Chianti Classico's, Vermentinos and a Rosé we had brilliant wines on the wedding day!
As an English couple who do not speak much, if any, Italian it really was not an issue. The team at Viticcio have perfect English and were always more than happy to help out when we needed to translate something to an Italian supplier. Throughout the 9 months planning our wedding Lorena and the team at Viticcio could not have been more helpful, in particular suggesting local vendors for the day and ensuring everything was in place for the weekend!
Viticcio is just a short drive or 20-30 minute walk into Greve, allowing guests the chance to walk into town to enjoy a coffee or glass of wine in the square.
In summary it was our dream wedding and could not imagine a better venue in Tuscany to...
