Upon arrival in Limatola we followed our satnav to the hotel, when the satnav eventually stopped there was no clear signage as to where to go next but with Google maps on air view we managed to work this out and continued up the hill through a small arch way - we had an Audi A4 but anything bigger wouldn’t have made it to the car park.||||Upon getting out the car we headed to what we thought must be the hotel but we ended up wandering around for ages as there is no clear signage to the reception area. ||||Eventually we found reception and managed to check in, the chap didn’t really speak any English at all and we had a fair hike with no lift to our room. ||||The room was really dark with hardly any windows, the bathroom was tiny and again had barely any light at all, the room felt cold and even more basic than the pictures had shown prior to booking. There was certainly no fancy lighting in the bathroom and we had booked a Junior Suite - which this room certainly was not.||||Our room was located around what was probably the old dining hall and the hotel had covered the open air section in a plastic tarpaulin, it was very windy and this was making a really loud slapping noise which could be constantly heard in the room.||||The restaurant appeared closed and the minibar only had water or Prosecco so we decided to walk into town - there was no staff anywhere to be seen in the hotel and as other people have commented there appeared to probably be a wedding on that weekend. ||||Limatola was like a ghost town, what there was was closed & there was nobody anywhere, we visited on a Saturday so we’re a little surprised by this. ||||When we eventually got back to the hotel we decided to checkout straightaway and stay elsewhere, upon checking out the staff couldn’t have cared less and didn’t ask why we were leaving when we had only arrived a short while ago. ||||It was such a shame as the castle from the outside is stunning but unfortunately the rooms feel unloved and uninspired, the hotel has potential to be beautiful but it appears they care more for the money from weddings than the accommodation they provide.||||We ended up staying in the close by town of Caiazzo, as this is where we had dinner booked & it was incredible, a gorgeous typically Italian town with a beautiful Airbnb, shops,...

A Terrible Experience at Castello di Limatola - Unresolved Theft Incident

I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at Castello di Limatoila, and I must say it was a complete disaster. I had come with high hopes for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation, but instead, I left with a bitter taste in my mouth and a sense of complete disappointment.

During my stay at this supposedly luxurious establishment, my precious and expensive necklace was stolen from my room. This necklace held significant sentimental value for me, and I was absolutely devastated by its loss. What made matters worse was the lack of care and empathy displayed by the hotel staff in response to this incident.

Months have passed since the theft occurred, and it's disheartening to note that the hotel has done nothing to resolve the situation. They initially assured me that they would activate their insurance to compensate for the loss, but it has become abundantly clear that this was merely lip service.

The only action the hotel took was providing me with a contact number for someone supposedly responsible for handling insurance claims. However, it seems that this individual is perpetually on vacation or honeymoon, as they are never available when I attempt to reach out. It's almost as if both the hotel and this mysterious insurance liaison are intentionally avoiding the issue, with no genuine intention of addressing the problem.

I am appalled by the complete lack of professionalism and responsibility displayed by Castello di Limatoila in handling this situation. A theft incident should be treated with the utmost seriousness, and it is the hotel's responsibility to ensure the safety and security of its guests' belongings. Instead, they have chosen to sweep the matter under the rug and avoid their obligations.

I would strongly advise anyone considering a stay at Castello di Limatoila to think twice before making a reservation. The lack of accountability and empathy displayed by this establishment is inexcusable, and I would hate to see others fall victim to a similar experience. It is truly disappointing to see a once-promising vacation turn into such a nightmare due to the hotel's negligence and disregard for its...

A truly magical experience! The hotel’s location is fantastic, and the atmosphere of sleeping in a real castle made my stay unforgettable. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the interior design made me feel like I had stepped into another era. A perfect place for anyone who enjoys peace, quiet, and historical charm. As some previous reviews mentioned, the road leading up to the castle includes two uphill stretches. However, even with a BMW X3 we had no problem reaching the top. For those who might be concerned about the sharp uphill turn, there is also a parking area a bit lower down. The hotel provides golf carts, and a staff member kindly came to pick us up from the parking lot and helped with our luggage. We travel frequently for work, and this hotel truly deserves high marks — it offered the best breakfast I’ve had at a hotel this year. Fresh juices, a wide variety of high-quality ingredients, both sweet and savoury options — just perfect. Big bonus points for the high-quality, natural cosmetics provided in the room, and the fully equipped bathroom. Guests are even provided with toothbrushes, which is a thoughtful touch. Highly recommended — a unique and relaxing stay in a one-of-a-kind setting!

Staying at Castello di Limatola was an absolute dream. From the seamless check-in to the warm farewell at checkout, every moment felt special. The castle itself radiates romance and history, making it the perfect escape. The dinner was exquisite, showcasing rich flavors and impeccable presentation, and breakfast the next morning was just as spectacular. Each meal felt carefully crafted, a true culinary experience. And the views absolutely breathtaking. Perched high above, the castle offers million-dollar panoramas that you simply can’t put a price on. Whether gazing out at sunrise or enjoying the glow of sunset, the scenery is unforgettable. Castello di Limatola is not just a place to stay. It is an experience of elegance, history, and romance. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
