Let me start by saying that we liked the red wine, which is very decent. The host was also very friendly with great English. The location is also great. We bought ten bottles of red wine (€100). However, I was very shocked when I - later on as I wasn’t there when we paid - found out that we had to pay for two wine tastings (€20) that we hadn’t officially requested and weren’t informed about upfront. Of course, we received some wine to try before buying, as it is the case in every other winery (where you are not charged for tasting a bit before buying). But we did not realise it was supposed to be a tasting, because a) we didn’t ask for it, b) one of us was driving and hardly drank any wine - we even asked for only a very little bit only when it was poured into one single glass for both of us and shared that (so, absolutely no way it was two tastings), c) we didn‘t do a tour or were given much more information other than the type of grapes that were used to produce the wine (usually a tasting would include some more information). Basically we liked the quality of the red wine but the “after taste of the experience” isn’t great because of the description outlined above. It feels like we were being ripped of and wouldn’t come back or recommend any further. We were there during the...
Read moreLovely small Tuscan winery outside of Lucca! They don't speak ANY English - so expect Italian if you're doing a tasting here. Our tasting session was free (not sure if this is always true) and consisted of a tour of their warehouse with the wine barrels, and a tasting of 3 of their wines (2 red, 1 white). We bought a bottle at the end for 8 euros. It's unclear if you need a reservation or you can just show up - but we called the night before (and with the help of google translate) and made a "prenotazione". The woman who did the tasting was lovely! I'd definitely recommend this for people who want to go to the smaller, more 'authentic' Tuscan vineyards.
