Castellaccio — Attraction in Monreale

Very nice place for a hiking. You might be using the "straight" path reachable from the parking lot located by the road which isn't actually marked on Google maps but definitely visible from the satellite view. Not too rough, my 4 years old twins made it all the way up to the Castellaccio without too much of complaining 😁 Alternatively you might use the longer path, marked on Maps. A bit longer, lacking the landscape view but more shadowy and easier to walk along.

The castle is closed, absolutely abandoned. We tried to get there with a walk from Monreale via Via Vicinale San Martino. The street in direction to Strada Vicinale Caputello is unsafe. A car obstructed the path and several agressive dogs attacked us. We had to turn back and search for a by-pass road. It was a long roundabout, took 4 hour to get there and back to...

Come sempre la natura detta le sue regole, tanto che per scoprirle bisogna osservarle. Che c'è di meglio di una semplice passeggiata. Faremo questa, che ci porta al "Castellaccio" nel territorio di San Martino delle Scale, Monreale (Pa). E ci beeremo di tutta la flora e la fauna del luogo, e nello stesso tempo guarderemo i panorami mozzafiato a perdita di vista, ammireremo : la Bandita, la rocca di Cefalù, le madonie con piano Battaglia e dietro L'Etna innevata , rocca Busambra, Monreale col suo Duomo, la valle dell'Oreto, San Martino col suo monastero, monte Cuccia il golfo di Mondello , monte Pellegrino. Lascio alla vostra vista l'interno del castello già convento, ora del C.A.S. che ogni anno apporta recuperi del suo interno. Nota Bene se si telefona un giorno prima si ha l'opportunità di pranzare nelle sale del castello il tutto preparato...
