Our family has had the privilege of experiencing every aspect of Il Palazzone in beautiful Montalcino, Tuscany. From a visit to the vineyards, newly built winery and gorgeous olive tree orchards, to enjoying their wines in restaurants and at home, to most recently gifting our closest friends with special gift boxes of the best wines they have to offer, everything is always perfect. Perfezione!

General manager Laura Gray most recently helped us select, pack and ship beautiful three-bottle gift boxes and special magnum gift boxes to friends this holiday season. Arranging it all from Italy, Laura helped craft descriptions of the wines included and did a special photo shoot of each gift box, allowing us to alert friends via email ahead of time to the imminent gift arrivals, despite potential pandemic-related shipping delays.

Everything was perfectly organized and handled and she even accommodated multiple add-ons to our initial gift list. Everything arrived on time and friends were blown away by how special it felt to get wines sent directly from the winery in Italy. We sent over 10 individual gift shipments, all to various points in the U.S..

In the past, we’ve also given the very special gift of a personal olive tree from Il Palazzone! The trees are designated with hand crafted ceramic markers that hang on the trees in the orchard. And each tree’s sponsor receives several bottles of olive oil after the harvest and pressing. Delicious and a very special and unique gift!

We are huge fans of Laura and her team, as well as the gracious owners of Il Palazzone, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Parsons. If you can’t make it to the beautiful spot for an in-person visit, let Laura help you with the next best thing!

In 2014 eight Americans made their first trip to Italy. On a very short list of wineries to visit was Il Palazzone, as we enjoyed the wine so much. We emailed the estate and started what has now been a six year friendship with Laura who manages the estate! We were greeted at the estate by Laura standing in the drive in front of the cellar waving and greeting us with a smile followed by a hug when we got out of the car.

The tasting was something our family talks about each time we have a bottle of any Il Palazzone wine (which has become very often). Of course the wine was exceptional and we were even able to taste the 2010 that was not even released yet!

We placed our first large order of wine as a family while onsite that day. It is now a tradition to place at least an annual but usually biannual order and our cellars now hold vintages from 2001 to 2015 Brunello di Montalcino as well as Rosso di Montalcino, Toscana, Grappa and olive oil!

We returned in 2017 and could not make a trip to Italy without another visit and tasting at Il Palazzone. Once again we were greeted by Laura and hugs all around. Then another amazing tasting in the cellar.

If you are in Italy make the trip to Montalcino and do not miss a tasting at Il Palazzone!

If you cannot make it to Montalcino find the wine, oil or grappa by Il Palazzone and buy it!

I am very late posting this review for the visits to the estate. However, we drank a bottle of the 2015 this weekend after being taken back to a better time before COVID I decided I needed to let others know about...

If you're planning to visit Montalcino, or don't know where to go to explore wine in Tuscany, Il Palazzone should absolutely be at the top of your list! This is one of my favorite Brunello di Montalcino wines, and visiting the actual vineyards helps you understand so much more about how the wine is grown, blended, and produced. I have visited Il Palazzone three times over the past several years and they are very professional and friendly. The vineyard is absolutely stunning, and you have the opportunity to actually walk among the vines, which is an incredible experience. They are happy to go into as much or little detail about the history of the wine region and wine production as you are interested in. Laura in particular has always been incredibly helpful answering any of our questions and proposing additional wines to taste. They also have a wonderful adopt-an-olive-tree program where a local artist paints your name on a ceramic plaque that is attached to "your" tree in their olive grove, and you receive the most amazing olive oil in the mail! It is a perfect gift for yourself or others! I'm sure you won't leave Il Palazzone without a case or two of...

I recently opened prized bottles of Il Palazzone olive oil and Brunello di Montalcino wine, and the aromas and flavors of these products transported me from my home in the U.S. to Tuscany. About a year ago, I was in a fortunate group of 14 family and friends who had a wonderful visit to the estate. Guided by the personable, knowledgeable and witty estate manager, Laura, we glimpsed the process and tasted the magnificent bottled fruit of the olive trees and grape vines that are nurtured there. The vineyard is beautifully set outside the hill town of Montalcino, known for its superior wines. The feel of the cellar is both traditional and modern, and it is an exceptionally lovely spot to taste the wine made there. If you are looking for a magical, close-up view of oil and wine production, and to enjoy products that are among the very best of their kind, arrange a visit to this special place. Conveniently, the estate also ships their special oil and wine. If you are anticipating a trip to Italy, want to evoke a past visit, or simply appreciate the top quality oil and wine of Tuscany, a delivery from Il Palazzone will bring you delight.
