We spent 25 glorious days in Italy, but our favorite experience of all was at Tornesi winery! We first were taken there by our wine guide. The wine was spectacular and the view heavenly! We learned they offer lunches with pairings, so we booked a lunch with pairing the next day (without the wine guide). Lunch at the Azienda Tornesi was amazing. The food grown in the garden 30 feet from where we were sitting. The family made the lunch, one of the best we have ever eaten, but then we had homemade pasta with ragu made that morning before! When we were chatting with "Little Boss" Eliza Tornesi, she talked about the family home with its vines, orchard, and garden. Before we left, she ran down to the family's house and returned with plum and peach preserves that her father had just put up that day, and gifted us with two jars. When we left, it felt like we were leaving family, the Tornesi's are that welcoming! We brought some Tornesi wine home with us and plan to order more, so we can enjoy it at home and fondly remember our glorious afternoon at...
Read moreWhat an amazing wine tasting experience! We found this place through Rick Steves guidebook. Making a reservation with Elisa was super easy and they were very kind and flexible to accommodate us during our preferred time slot. They gave us clear driving and parking instructions so arrival was very smooth.
The tour itself is very informative and detailed. We saw the end to end process of making the world famous Brunello di Montalcino wines. We loved the fact that this is a compact and efficient family run operations and it’s not uncommon to find owners join you for tours.
We did our wine tasting outside in a beautiful Tuscan setting overlooking vineyards! All wines offered were amazing and we ended up buying a couple of bottles.
Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to taste or buy Brunello from a local family run winery vs. a giant...
Read moreTornesi is the name of the vineyard and the family that has owned and worked it for (I think) 4 generations. It is a slice of heaven. The setting for a wine tasting is gorgeous. The family is generous, gracious and very proud of their wines, with good reason! I include Valentina, who is like a sister/daughter to the family. They want you to enjoy and understand the process. I can't say enough about how great our experience was. I can say the wines we tasted were among the best I ever had and each glass was better than the previous. The tasting culminated with the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Reserva. I thought that was THE best wine I ever had. Subsequently I read that it is one of the best vintages in decades. Tornesi family made my...
