Paolo Bea Winery — Attraction in Montefalco

My visit to Paolo Bea dramatically transformed my Montefalco trip into an incredibly wonderful experience. The winery's architecture, designed by its owner Giampiero, combines sustainability with local materials and natural scientific principles for energy efficiency. The tasting of three distinct Sagrantino wines, all harvested in the same year but from different vineyards, was a very interesting tasting that beautifully demonstrated the role of terroir. Special thanks to Sergio and everyone involved for conducting such a wonderful tour just for me. I strongly recommend a visit to this winery...

Had a lovely tour of Paolo Bea. Call ahead to make an appointment. We were lucky enough to be there to watch them pressing the grapes! An expensive tasting vs others around because of the quality and cost of the wine they produce here. We are big natural wine fans so it was a treat to see how the family had been producing in a sustainable way, working with the environment, for a generation. The wine might have been great but is was served to us at 26 Celsius, 86 degrees. It say on the lable to serve at 17-19 but it was like 26. We were so looking forward to trying this wine but it was like hot tea. The owner said charge them half price!! We should have gave him twice the tasting cost if he needed...
