Source of the Gorgazzo — Attraction in Polcenigo

Stunning water -l’acqua grotto. A cave and small lake at the base of the mountain. Here the calcium carbonate rich mineralised freshest cool water flows magically. An absolutely beautiful part of Italy. The cave section in river are breathtaking and well worth stopping by if you were in the area. The small village/town that surrounds it is as well beautiful and has some local eateries that would be worth visiting as well for lunch or dinner. The water itself is crystal clear and absolutely freezing, I would highly recommend at least washing your hands off in it to get the feel...

La sorgente del Gorgazzo (conosciuta anche con il nome dialettale di "Al bus") è una grotta subacquea dove ha origine l'omonimo torrente, affluente del fiume Livenza. La sorgente valchiusana è situata nei pressi di Polcenigo (Pordenone). La grotta è costituita da una risorgiva, una delle più profonde mai esplorate al mondo[1] e la seconda sorgente carsica a sifone più profonda in Europa dopo la Fonte di Valchiusa in Provenza. Nel 2008 lo speleonauta Luigi Casati raggiunse la profondità di -212 metri, limite finora imbattuto a causa della pericolosità e delle forti correnti interne. Al 2016 il Gorgazzo è sorgente italiana esplorata più in profondità. Il 5 settembre 2019 lo speleosub polacco Krzysztof Starnawski ha raggiunto la profondità di -222 metri, realizzando per la prima volta anche una mappa 3D della cavità. Nei pressi dell'imboccatura della cavità, a 9 metri di profondità, è stata posta la statua di un Cristo, che grazie alla eccezionale limpidezza delle acque e del fondo è perfettamente visibilie all'esterno dalla riva nelle giornate soleggiate.
