Fascinating historical site, in a small village on the south eastern coast, about 10km west of Marina de Ragusa. The site is currently only open on Sundays, manned by volunteers. When we visited, couldn't find anyone on site to ask for help interpreting the site. There is just 1 information panel and leaflet - only in Italian. So had to rely on my limited Italian and research I'd done on the web site prior to my visit. The information panel, alongside the basilica, has a legend showing each main building visible and the flora growing on the site. The site is about 2 acres and full of excavated Roman buildings, including a basilica with mosaics and tombs. This area is the main focal point of the site, partly protected by a roof. There is still much excavation work to be done, including sections outside the main compound, bordering the sea front, some of which looks threatened by erosion from the sea. There is one main concrete path, otherwise you can walk around and into the various buildings. The site ground is sand with vegetation growing in it. There are mature trees, offering welcome shade. There is a small lay by just outside the gate where you can park. It's worth visiting, although read up on the site beforehand to understand the sites importance...
