Castello Eleonora D'Arborea — Attraction in Seddori/Sanluri

A very nice and interesting museum, we were only two persons and got our own tour with a very nice English speaking guide. The view from the roof is very impressive. I can understand the complaints here about the little time in the exponation, there are so many details and so less time for everything. If I could make a suggestion, I would offer special tours, f.e. for ww1: the collection of hand-weapons and gas-masks alone makes the museum outstanding, not mentioning the rest. Take the chance and make something special of it. I think many enthusiasts would come and visit you from greater distances all over the island. More time for less objects might be a very good idea and will create a greater stream...

It is apparently the only medieval castle still standing and visitable in the entire region. I was fortunate and honored to be accompanied by the curator of the museum. In addition to a number of rooms that feature eclectic furniture but consistent with the castle's fortunes, there is also a series of rooms devoted to collections that are more unique than rare and that are presented as authentic wunderkammer (the evolution of military science from the nineteenth century up to World War I; a boudoir of Napoleonic relics, a collection of artifacts in ceroplast and one dedicated to the Italian colonial adventure), all displayed with great scenic care. Il castello di Sanluri sorge al centro della cittadina. Si presenta all'esterno con un giardino molto ben curato, in alcuni angoli, tuttavia, molto trascurato e disordinato. Al nostro arrivo siamo stati accolti dal personale, che è stato gentile e disponibile. Dopo aver fatto il biglietto, sette euro, ci hanno accompagnato, con altre due copie all'interno del castello. La guida, molto impostata nel parlare e poco empatica nei nostri confronti, ha dato delle indicazioni generali sul comportamento da tenere all'interno del museo che, in parte, non sono riuscito a sentire a causa dei miei problemi con l'udito. Ho preso una bacchettata alquanto aspra per aver toccato un libro e quando le ho detto che non avevo sentito, ha continuato a riprendermi. Durante tutta la visita, comunque, ha illustrato in maniera abbastanza chiara, per quanto non del tutto esauriente, il percorso museale, non riuscendo a rispondere o rispondendo in maniera evasiva alle domande poste e non sapendo confrontarsi con le osservazioni fattele da me, che studio da anni nel settore archeologico né dalla mia compagna, storica dell'arte (a volte sarebbe meglio interagire con l'utenze senza imporsi con presunzione, ma, soprattutto, sarebbe preferibile rispondere con un "non so", quando non si conoscono gli argomenti). In linea di massima il castello e la collezione al suo interno sono di notevole pregio: bellissima la parte dedicata alla Prima Guerra Mondiale. In sintesi? Consigliatissimo da vedere ma non fate troppe domande alla guida, se non volete che vi saluti con battute...
