Our family planned to stay here two nights but due to the airlines changing our flights we had to cut it down to only one night. Well, what a bummer because this was one of the best experiences we had on our recent two week trip through Tuscany, Lazio (Rome), and Umbria. We are already scrambling to get back here for a more extensive stay of 4-5 nights this summer. What makes this place so special and memorable? The staff! Personal and professional service without being stuffy or uptight. The castello is so unique and so well done. In November it is rather chilly and it felt very cozy. The food was outstanding! Maria the chef was amazing and Francesco our waiter was equally exceptional. The room (we booked a family room) was extremely spacious and comfortable. Again, well done, clean, and well-appointed. And of course BEAUTIFUL! I actually don’t think the photos truly capture all of the charm. The castello features art exhibits, a billiard room, shops, spa and pool (seasonal). You must go in knowing that the location is rather secluded, but that is part of its appeal and gives you the ability to wake up with a gorgeous view of an unspoiled Umbrian mountain landscape. Also, you are central to lots of day trips to Umbrian gems such as Spoleto, Asissi, Perugia, Orvieto, and Gubbio. If you are looking for a unique luxury stay where you feel truly welcomed, this is a must...

Read moreThis is a unique place to stay. With all the comforts of a hotel but in a renovated medieval hill town village of tiny streets with arches and pelagoniums at every turn. The beautifully restored church with frescoes now holds concerts. ||||You can tell this is a place recreated by architects as the attention to detail shows. Each room is in a little tower house. All are all suites with living space and bedrooms. Bathrooms come with fluffy white towels, robes and slippers. Views from the terrace and many of the rooms are over the lush green hills. The restaurant is wonderful, making the best of local ingredients and has a talented lady chef. Breakfast on the terrace looking over the hills is excellent. The swimming pool is set in a lush rose garden and massages are available in the wellness centre.||||The location is perfectly placed for visiting historic towns of Spolletto and Norcia and there is fabulous walking in the valleys hills. Many small villages on one side of the region are recovering well from the 2016 earthquake and its extraordinary to see their achievements. The other side is untouched. If you want a beautiful, quiet and friendly place to stay in...
