W średniowieczu katedrę rozbudowano w dwóch etapach. W XVII i XVIII wieku kościół został odrestaurowany i wyposażony w dekoracje w stylu barokowym. Większość barokowych dodatków usunięto podczas XIX-wiecznych renowacji, przez co wnętrze kościoła zyskało neoromański wygląd.
