Trieste Maritime Museum — Attraction in Trieste

Phone ahead to make sure what the REAL opening hours are. I tried to visit this museum, walking 30minutes each way from the train station, beside a very busy road. I arrived at 16:33 and was told that the last entrance was at 16:30. This information is not provided on the website. The staff were not flexible at all, saying that the alarm was already on. If the last people can enter at 4:30, why would the alarm already be on? Or maybe the staff wanted to go home early? Fortunately, all of my other experiences with people in Trieste have been positive...

The museum is well organized and amazing to see. They have many interesting models and the staff is friendly too. They are well described and you can also read the stories behind or watch the mini-documentaries they have.

To get there you have to go through the entrance beside the bridge and have to walk 1-2 minutes to the spot. It seems like an industrial zone but you can walk through the parking and find it on the left. It's in the same building as the Imaginario...

A Trieszti Tengerészeti Múzeum a város külső részén található, gyalogosan is elérhető, de a sűrűn közlekedő buszokkal még kényelmesebb.

Mint minden trieszti intézménynél, itt is érdemes előre ellenőrizni a nyitvatartást, mert ez arrafelé meglehetősen kiszámíthatatlan: van múzeum, ami kedden zárva, van fagylaltozó, ami szerdán… Szóval jobb utánanézni. A belépés viszont teljesen ingyenes, ami külön jó pont.

A múzeumnak két fő részlege van: egy tengerészeti szakkönyvtár (főleg olaszul tudóknak, elmélyülő kutatóknak lehet kincsesbánya) és maga a kiállítás.

Fontos tudni, hogy nem érdemes a barcelonai vagy genovai tengerészeti múzeumokhoz hasonlítani – ez egy kisebb léptékű, de szerethető gyűjtemény.

A kiállított tárgyak kb. 80%-a hajómakett, változatos méretarányban, de meglepően magas színvonalon. Emellett láthatók a klasszikus tengeri navigációs eszközök, vezérlőpultok, Marconi-féle távíró, festmények, archív fotók, illetve videós anyagok is.

Aki akár egy kicsit is érdeklődik a hajózás vagy a tengerészet iránt, annak kötelező program. De mivel könnyen elérhető és belépődíjat sem kell fizetni, mindenki szánhat rá egy órát, ha belefér a trieszti programba – garantáltan érdekes...
