I can't say enough good things about this excursion and the gentleman that guided us along. He was so caring and compassionate with my 80 year old mother who wanted to try to keep up they best she could (see pictures below. He was the tall gentleman with dreadlocks in pics). He encouraged me to do the cliff jump, which I probably would not have done without his guidance. I also dropped my driver's license and 2-$20 bills (like an idiot) in the falls when I opened my waterproof bag to get something out. Instead of being irritated, he helped look for it with no complaints. They even had an employee dive under the falls to look for it (because the water is 22 feet deep where the waterfall enters the bottom pool). They didn't find it, but the fact that they tried was VERY much appreciated)! I wish I had more money to give him a bigger tip because he really did make our excursion better! Grounds are pretty. The excursion goes by pretty fast. We were there about an hour and a half. But they do not rush you, and you can go as slow or as fast as you'd like. Basically, there is a cliff jump you can do, there is an area where you can walk up the falls and there is an area where you can wade and go through cave-like areas if you are adventurous. There is even a mini zipline, as you can see in one of the videos. I would absolutely recommend this for a family visiting Jamaica, as it was one of our favorite excursions we've ever done. We did not use the excursion our Carnival cruise ship offered because they did not have one that went to both Dunn River Falls and Blue Hole, so we went through Viator and we had no concerns. We made sure to take a tour that got us to the cruise ship at least an hour before we had to. If you are taking a cruise ship to Ochos Rios, it was nice because there is a shopping area right when you get off the boat, and that is also where the excursion picks you up. It is a tad hectic trying to find your excursion, but we were able to find it, and the staff was very helpful. P.S. I just asked my 80-year-old mom if I should add anything else, and she said, "No, just make sure they know our guide was super nice and cute too!!!"... She told me not to put that last part, but of course I did anyway, because I thought it was cute the way she giggled when...

What an experience! Cascade Blue Hole combines an excellently curated experience with beautiful, cool waters.

The place is kept clean and the staff members are friendly. Upon arrival, my group was assigned a tour guide (ours was named Ainsworth - 110/10 would recommend). He guided us along the path to Blue Hole, providing support at any difficult parts in the trek. He also took photos and videos of the journey with one of our phones, meaning we were free to watch our step and explore while Ainsworth captured the moment

Upon reaching the Blue Hole, we were able to take a short jump into the hole (which I hear is 45ft deep!). Afterwards, we were able to swing into a shallower pool further down, then relax. Ainsworth also was our personal photographer and took hundreds of model-worthy photos.

I loved my experience there and my group had the same sentiments.

I'll make some key points to be aware of

  1. After a heavy rain, the current is very very strong. The river may take you off guard and pull you in unexpected directions. Our tour guide was very vigilant and the other members of staff assisted as needed. In one particular instance, Ainsworth and another staff member had to dive into the river to stop one of our group members who were caught in white water from getting washed away.

  2. If you're not a very very strong swimmer, wear a life vest. Don't be a hero. Heck, even if you're a strong swimmer, the vest is still recommended, although I understand if you want to show off any gym body you're working on 😂

  3. Especially with the strong current, there are many times where your foot or knee can bang against a rock you didn't see. Having good river shoes can help with protecting your feet. Carrying bandages with you for any nicks you may get also helps

All in all, this is a fantastic experience that's more than worth the time and effort to get there and I'd recommend it wholeheartedly for any...

The waterfall, itself, is a must-see. If you choose this business, know beforehand that a guide is necessary. The currents in the river are very strong and if you have a mishap, you want the staff there to back you up. This is all doubling necessary if you have children in your party. This is also a very directed activity, so you're not going to go here to just kind of hang out and spend some time. Their guides are trained to show you precisely what they're trained to show you rather than to give you necessarily the experience that you want. As long as you're good with that, the experience is a good one. Also note that even though they may or may not offer you safety vests, they're available. I strongly recommend them, and you should consider them critically necessary if you have any children in the party.

I stand strongly by my two-star rating, though I don't want to take the time during my vacation to get into a full description of my experience. I do strongly recommend that you choose one of the other businesses in the area that offers this attraction. Both sides of the river are lined with Taurus companies for the attraction, so there's at least two.

A lot of people will go with the tour company which is cool. If you decide to drive up there solo, that's fine too, but I ran into two people who were trying to kind of flag cars down to choose their business and the way in which they were doing it. I gave me the creeps. So, in that case, I would say that solo and impromptu is fine. But do your research ahead of time so you know exactly which business you...

I highly recommend the Blue Hole. We ported in Falmouth and our driver, Garth Jumpp drove us an hour over to Ocho Rios area. It was cloudy and rainy that day but in the forest it didn't effect us. It's cost $20 per person to get in and they assign you a life guard that works for tips. I recommend Vernon when you go. Very well spoken and respectful. Felt very safe walking on the rough terrain with his guidanance. I have some mobility issues but I'm a great swimmer. I would not recommend if you can't climb up stairs or walk on rough uneven terrain. They have life vests if you're an unconfident swimmer. We jumped in at 3 different waterfalls and walked in a different one for a picture. I did see some children maybe 8 and older? They have a few people selling things at different spots along the route to include special brownies lol. We politely said no thank you. I think we were there maybe an hour. We could have stayed longer and jumped the same waterfalls again if we had wanted to stay longer. My husband lost his GO Pro on the first jump but our life guard jumped in and found it. We tipped him $50 but that was a little extra for finding our GO Pro. Our driver says the average wage in Jamaica is $150 a week so just tip what you feel is good.
