Leaving an honest review as there are several negative reviews that would have deterred me from going but having gone myself I am glad I went and experienced it. It is possible people could have a different experience depending on time of year and weather. We purchased the luminous lagoon excursion directly at our hotel and got picked up right on time. The drive for us was only a 20 min drive but could be longer for others depending on where your hotel is. When you arrive, you will sign waiver forms and be given rum or fruit punch.

  1. We arrived at around 545 pm but waited until 630 to get onto the boat so that it was dark enough
  2. the boat was not overly crowded and had 2 boats that went out
  3. the boat doesn't go very far from the dock. Maybe a 5 min drive out.
  4. It DEFINITELY does glow. It may not be as intense as people may expect it to. But it is a subtle blue glow that is very cool.
  5. The bottom is some kind of weird mud (although I didn't attempt to touch the bottom and stayed afloat the entire time in the water). It is recommended to swim out and not be too close together with others as swimming can stir up the mud and make the water cloudy hence a less bright glow.
  6. the water was not cold at all at night. In fact, it was warmer than the beach that day and the pockets of cool versus warm water was a cool experience
  7. we were told it was only about 4-5 feet deep so not as deep as we initially thought hence why you can stand if you want
  8. it will be difficult to take photos from your phone. We did have a photographer who took great photos. I paid 30 dollars for all of the pictures which was about 20 pictures in total.
  9. I will caution and say they did not warn us of the jellyfish before getting in. I had felt one or two a few times in the water while floating and at the very end did get stung in the arm. It wasn't super painful and wasn't too bothered after it happened but could be worse for children if they are more sensitive.
  10. There is no pressure by the crew on getting into the water. Many others did stay on the boat and they let those who stay play with a bucket of water for the experience too.
  11. Once we were back on the boat, they showed us where the fresh and salt water meet/merge which was cool and also splashed a bucket of water out which gave a cool rain effect on the water
  12. Finally after the tour, we got to sit down and see a fire show demonstration which was amazing. Totally unexpected and had no idea we were even getting a show. A great addition to the end of the night. Overall, I do recommend going and seeing for yourself. It is a unique and probably once in a lifetime experience as not many places have...

We arrived last night to a very busy place. We were called to the boat to begin our excursion. A very packed boat with 40 people aboard where TUI say there should be a 20 person max!! There was no room between us. There was one very very drunk British woman who began to interrupt whilst the captain was trying to talk us through the safety briefing. When we arrived at the place to disembark the boat, we all jumped in. The advert for the excursion said we'd have 45 mins with a 3 min boat journey each way so we expected at least 30 mins in the water. The captain called us all in after 5 mins to go back. So we were all irritated especially having paid £162 for 4 adult tickets. Even though I have a 10 and 13 year old. Anyway, the drunk lady began to really kick off, she kicked and punched staff as she got back on board, she racially attacked staff and then my pregnant partner asked her to stop, to which she was verbally attacked by her. She then threw and smashed a glass bottle at her boyfriend and as we all climbed back aboard she had to be restrained as she was lashing out. My son was crying his eyes out and terrified. Finally, we arrived back at the dock and we asked to see a manager we met with someone who told us was called James Carvette, he would not listen to our complaints, he was drunk and smelt of alcohol and became physically aggresive toward my pregnant partner too and started pushing at her face as soon as we asked if he had a drink. He told us it was none of our business if he drinks whilst in charge of the hundreds of people on his boats. My pregnant partner was told that SHE was the one that antagonised the drunk woman to begin with and that his boats are not overcrowded and the excursion was not bad value for money based on the 5 mins out at sea.

It was a dangerous, over booked excursion where if (and when) something goes wrong, the protocols are not in place to deal with. It was disgusting and a disgrace that TUl charge so much for so little and in such an unsafe environment. We got a refund and an apology off TUI and they said this place have been told before about over booking the boats to unsafe numbers.

There is literally nowhere to move on the boats at this capacity, and when someone kicks off, it’s highly dangerous. They say kids are welcome but this place encourages guests to drink and drink prior to boarding a death trap.

Would NOT recommend...

An amazing once in a lifetime experience. Jumping or climbing down from the boat into the water and watching it immediately glow is something words can not describe.

Upon arrival you are asked to sign a waiver which may as well include giving these guys the deed to your home. Don't panic about the waver, there are still lots of staff on the boat to help if needed. Once you've signed your life away grab a free run/fruit punch and walk down to the boating area and chillax. the boats DO NOT leave until it's dark. upon boarding take a seat near the back of the boat, that will give you some great views of the illumination when your sailing out. The guys on our boat were fantastic, i have reaf reviews saying they make some inappropriate jokes. The one joke they make is in good taste and made our whole boat chuckle. You get roughly 20 mins in the lake which is by far enough. For the swimmers the ground is covered in silt which is not the nicest sensation on your feet, but was safe when we did stand. Don't think your going to get great photos of your own camera/phone!!! The professional photographer will take some pics if you want and for around $30usd, which they airdrop to your Iphone. When back on dry land there's an outside shower if you fancy then join the photo queue (which doesn't move fast). Unfortunately our photo's were very dull but they wouldn't drop the price so we leave with just our memories. There's some great food on offer and a show, which entertained us. Not 5 star as overpriced tourist attraction but life long memories of natural phenomenon, which shpuld be a...

The food is great the escoveich Fish is nothing like I have tasted before spices were very unique and the fish was crisp. The brown stew was awesome. It has been the best tasting fish so far I would say better than little ochi and the price is great. The environment is clean spacious and just right. Nestled on a property very close to the glistening waters wonder one can experience the beautiful view of the ocean as the calm waves rush ashore along with the cool tropical breeze. The environment is ideal for large groups or just two diners. It’s not as cosy though and may get loud but the food and the view of the ocean compensates for that. The staff are friendly and very helpful, they do a pretty good job. The restrooms are very clean and makes one feel comfortable to use. The decorations and paintings are tropical and explores the Jamaican culture somewhat. The also have facilities for the disabled and finally what makes the location so unique is its proximity to the glistening waters wonders. They have a mini dock from which the boat leaves nightly to provide tourists with the magical experience of the glistening waters close by. Great Restaurant and bar/ hangout and chill.
